Closed beta for Painkiller: Hell & Damnation has arrived

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1841 days, 23 hours, 19 minutes ago

So long as it stays close to the original game, more Painkiller sounds like a very good thing to me. That's why Painkiller: Hell & Damnation seems great in theory. If The Farm 51 can deliver fast-paced first-person shooting, monstrous enemy designs, and satisfying weapons -- all wrapped together nicely using the Unreal Engine 3 -- I'm in. (more)

Preview: MechWarrior Online

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1841 days, 23 hours, 27 minutes ago
Friday, August 03, 2012 7:55:44 AM GMT
The MechWarrior property is an oldie. Perhaps even unrecognizable to some, as there hasn’t been a proper entry in like ten years; I know it in name and concept only, having seen box art or occasional screens. Accordingly, I was not quite prepared for what I was getting myself into with MechWarrior Online. (more)

Analyst: Medal of Honor: Warfighter sales will suffer

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1843 days, 22 hours, 59 minutes ago
Wednesday, August 01, 2012 8:23:51 AM GMT
Analyst Doug Creutz has warned investors that EA's annual attempt to start a fight with Activision won't do too well this year. He believes Medal of Honor: Warfighter will lose sales due to the poor quality of the last MOH title, as well as a noted drop in consumer interest. (more)

Carrier Command: Gaea Mission getting episodic prelude

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1845 days, 23 hours, 3 minutes ago
Monday, July 30, 2012 8:19:42 AM GMT
With it's sleek HD visuals Carrier Command: Gaea Mission doesn't seem to bear much resemblance to the game I played on an old MS DOS machine back in the early nineties, but I suppose that's to be expected when you're resurrecting a series that's remained relatively untouched for nearly two and a half decades. Arma 2 gets 1.62 patch, multitude of fixes in multiplayer

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1850 days, 21 hours, 55 minutes ago
Wednesday, July 25, 2012 9:28:08 AM GMT
Well, with a renewed interest in Arma 2 (that thing you bought so you could play DayZ), Bohemia Interactive has released the 1.62 patch update for said game. There's quite a bit of fixes that not only help stabilize the large-scale military battles (as well as adding new video options and script commands for content makers), but most importantly this update helps makes "zombie hunts" less prone to crashing. EA will still support Battlefield 3 despite BF4 reveal

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1856 days, 22 hours, 52 minutes ago
Thursday, July 19, 2012 8:31:12 AM GMT
The announcement of Battlefield 4 has had some gamers worried that online support for Battlefield 3 will now erode -- and they probably have a good reason to worry if they spent more than the price of the game on DLC and premium services. Fortunately, EA has set all fears to rest, pledging committed support. (more)

Pitchford: Duke Nukem Forever is exactly like Half-Life 2

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1857 days, 23 hours, 55 minutes ago

Most reasonable gamers would consider Duke Nukem Forever, on its own, is a big enough insult to the industry. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, however, has decided to take the mockery further by comparing it to one of the most beloved games of all time. The fiend! (more)

Battlefield 4 confirmed, beta offered for MOH pre-orders

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1857 days, 23 hours, 58 minutes ago
Wednesday, July 18, 2012 7:25:07 AM GMT
Electronic Arts accidentally revealed a Battlefield 4 pre-order bonus for Medal of Honor Warfighter this past weekend, then quickly went into denial mode. Of course, EA was just stalling until it could announce the game on its own terms -- which it now has done. Battlefield 4 is officially a thing. (more)

Ten things to know about Defiance

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1858 days, 23 hours, 20 minutes ago
Tuesday, July 17, 2012 8:03:16 AM GMT
Defiance is SyFy and Trion Worlds’ venture that breaks new ground by simultaneously developing a television series and videogame within the same universe, and even sharing a few characters between the two. We were only given a sneak peek of the television series here at San Diego Comic-Con with a brief trailer, but we were able to spend a lot of time with the Trion Worlds-developed MMO, speaking with Nick Beliaff, vice president of development, and Ron Hill, senior producer, about the game. Review: Revelations 2012

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1878 days, 23 hours, 16 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 27, 2012 8:07:05 AM GMT
Revelations 2012 first came to my attention when a random Twitter pal recommended it, presumably under the impression that I would find something to love in the same way I regularly watch Alien Resurrection and enjoy every shameful second. The trouble is, Alien Resurrection is so bad it's good, and even offers a number of genuinely entertaining moments. (more)

'The Scorchers' DLC possibly listed for RAGE

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1885 days, 23 hours, 4 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 20, 2012 8:19:20 AM GMT
PEGI's listing reveals something called RAGE: The Scorchers was recently approved by Europe's glorious guardians. For those not in the know, the Scorchers were an enemy faction revealed before the release of RAGE, but never made it into the final game. This lends credence to the idea that we're getting an expansion, with new missions based around the clan. (more)

Red Orchestra 2 cuts price in half and adds friend pass

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1897 days, 36 minutes ago

Red Orchestra 2 recently had a free-to-play weekend, and it was wildly successful. The influx of new players was a good start, but Tripwire has decided to do even more to bring players into the game. Red Orchestra 2 is now permanently $19.99 instead of $39.99, and every player will get a friend code they can give away which will allow someone else to try the game for awhile. (more)

E3: Kill foreigners with friends in Far Cry 3 co-op

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1899 days, 11 hours, 21 minutes ago

Far Cry was never a series I thought I’d want to play in four player co-op, but, then again, there aren’t many games that don’t benefit from it. While I’d hate to see three online chuckleheads ruin the atmosphere and immersion of the single-player, I’m perfectly okay with a dedicated co-op mode, especially when it is done with some style and ingenuity.
