I wish I was a practical gent, especially when it comes to construction. Unfortunately, I can't even put up a shelf without a lot of hassle, injuries, and the expectation of fanfare at the end. Thankfully, there are a number of games out there that allow me to flex my creative muscles with little or no knowledge of how to actually build things. (more)

Minecraft: Pocket Edition adds bows, skeletons and spiders

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1832 days, 22 hours, 13 minutes ago
Sunday, August 12, 2012 9:11:17 AM GMT
Let's just skip the "Is that a bone in your pocket?" joke we're all thinking and get straight to business: Minecraft: Pocket Edition has been updated and now includes skeletons, spiders and best of all, a bow to kill skeletons and spiders with. Skeletons and spiders are cool and atmospheric and everything, but they're even cooler when they can't murder you on account of being riddled with hundreds and hundreds of arrows. (more)

Only you can decide what to do with your own hard-earned income, and in today's rapid digital society we know your purse strings are being pulled in many different directions at any given time. Kickstarter can pinch your pennies all on its own, so it's important to be particular – and particularly, The Other Brothers looks like it could be a worthwhile, wonderful investment. (more)

Portabliss: Great Big War Game (iOS, Android)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1839 days, 23 hours, 11 minutes ago
Sunday, August 05, 2012 8:12:59 AM GMT
Turn-based strategy games are in for something of a renaissance, it seems. A brand new XCOM is on the way, Hero Academy has made a splash on iOS and is now headed to PC, and now, Great Big War Game has landed on iOS and Android, with Windows, Mac and Blackberry Playbook versions on the way. Great Big War Game, the sequel to Great Little War Game, takes a few cues from military-themed turned-based strategy games, reminding me in particular of the colorful Advance Wars series. (more)

Thank your lucky stars! There's a new content for Angry Birds Space. Update 1.2.2 packs a hefty bag of goodies, adding 20 levels, a brand new orange bird, and a pig boss so big he has his own gravitational pull. As you can see, there's even a special Tetris themed level (though if you're anything like me, you're more interested in that caramel apple planet in the lower left of the screen shot. I want to go to there). (more)

Despite experiencing stronger revenues in Q2 2012 than in Q2 2011, Zynga reported a $22.8 million net loss for the quarter and lowered its outlook for the rest of the year to adjust for "delays in launching new games, a faster decline in existing web games due in part to a more challenging environment on the Facebook web platform, and reduced expectations for Draw Something." Mistwalker's debut iOS title, Party Wave, catches some surf on iTunes

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1851 days, 23 hours ago
Tuesday, July 24, 2012 8:24:37 AM GMT
Mistwalker, the studio started by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, has launched its first game for iOS, Party Wave. No, it's not a game where you wave hello to friends as they walk in the door for your birthday party, nor does it involve coordinating a stadium full of people to move their arms up and down at the correct times. Party Wave is about surfing, one of Sakaguchi's passions. (more)

Review: The Act

I think I may be autistic. Or something. But, I’m not alone in having this thought. Paranoid self-diagnosing is a habit that our ADHD generation can’t kick any sooner than the meds we’re on. Very few of us go through life in complete control of our emotions and in complete understanding of others. It’s called communication and it’s a tricky thing. (more)
