Only you can decide what to do with your own hard-earned income, and in today's rapid digital society we know your purse strings are being pulled in many different directions at any given time. Kickstarter can pinch your pennies all on its own, so it's important to be particular – and particularly, The Other Brothers looks like it could be a worthwhile, wonderful investment. (more)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1760 days, 2 hours, 13 minutes ago
Tuesday, July 31, 2012 9:18:47 AM GMT
For those not familiar, A Game of Dwarves is a PC strategy game built in the same vein as Dungeon Keeper, taking more than a few pages from the classic strategy-based god games of the 1990s, with helpings of Sim City and Minecraft throughout. An interesting combination both in theory and in practice. (more)

New content launches into Angry Birds Space

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1762 days, 3 hours, 40 minutes ago
Sunday, July 29, 2012 7:51:42 AM GMT
Thank your lucky stars! There's a new content for Angry Birds Space. Update 1.2.2 packs a hefty bag of goodies, adding 20 levels, a brand new orange bird, and a pig boss so big he has his own gravitational pull. As you can see, there's even a special Tetris themed level (though if you're anything like me, you're more interested in that caramel apple planet in the lower left of the screen shot. I want to go to there). (more)

SpellTower is out for Mac and it's like crack

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1765 days, 2 hours, 49 minutes ago
Thursday, July 26, 2012 8:42:58 AM GMT
If you've somehow missed this form of digital crack, SpellTower has you tracing through stacks of letters to find words in its standard Tower Mode, and a constantly rising row threat (think Tetris) makes the Puzzle Mode even more fun. It's like a super hip Scrabble with the constant pressure of a tile/block-based puzzle game. Brilliant. And now, with this new Mac release, you can use your mouse or touchpad instead of your mobile phone's screen. (more)

Saturday, July 21, 2012 7:52:16 AM GMT
Been hoping for a sequel to the indie tower defense darling Defense Grid? Now is your chance to directly contribute to the possibility, as funding is now open for Defense Grid 2 on Kickstarter. "But wait," you say, "wasn't the original Defense Grid super popular?" According to developer Hidden Path's CEO Jeff Pobst, Defense Grid: The Awakening was definitely a "success, even beyond what we had hoped." That said, Pobst adds that a Defense Grid sequel is just "too small" for publishers to care, hence the K... (more)

Valve to eventually allow 'unapproved' updates on Steam

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1777 days, 3 hours, 15 minutes ago

Valve's push toward giving consumers a more direct say in the matter of which games appear on Steam with its upcoming Greenlight initiative is certainly intriguing. Will it work? If anyone is adaptable enough to make it happen, it's likely Valve. And, either way, I like that this option is being explored. (more)

Little Inferno trailer warms hearts, burns stuff

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1780 days, 3 hours, 32 minutes ago

The first trailer for Tomorrow Corporation's Little Inferno depicts a game that looks simultaneously entertaining and super depressing. In order to warm up an increasingly cooler world, you ... throw as many toys as you can into a fireplace. That's the premise, anyway. This is just the first teaser, so all the details of how you'll burn up toys have yet to be discussed. (more)

While we imagine most who are eager to play Wasteland 2 have fond memories of playing the original RPG and might possibly still own it, InXile is still tossing it in free of charge with each copy of Wasteland 2. It is due in no small part to the aid of EA, the publisher of the original Wasteland. (more)

Review: The Real Texas

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1789 days, 3 hours, 33 minutes ago

The Real Texas is a game that reminds me why I got into indie gaming in the first place: it's a unique experience unlike anything you'd find on store shelves. Immediately after I saw the launch trailer, I knew The Real Texas was going to be an entertaining game. What I didn't expect was an extremely well-written adventure through an incredibly quirky universe. (more)
