Earthworm Jim HD makes erectile tissue engorge with blood

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2583 days, 21 hours, 8 minutes ago
Wednesday, July 28, 2010 7:56:20 AM GMT
I know, I know. Yet another re-release of Earthworm Jim. Even in high-definition, that prospect sounds so boring. Then you realize that it's actually awesome, and everything is fine. Seriously though. It's rebuilt from the ground up with gorgeous visuals, it has four-player online co-op, and it'll boast three exclusive, never-before-seen levels. It may not be the Earthworm Jim 4 that everyone wants, but it's something, and that something is good. (more)

Details emerge on MAG patch 1.07

I've been told that there are a lot of Dtoiders who love MAG. If I could commit myself to a multiplayer first-person shooter (or had any skill at them), I'd probably join in on the fun. The persistent world it features is highly appealing to me. (more)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2583 days, 21 hours, 31 minutes ago

Adorably disturbing (rainbow vomit!) puzzler Critter Crunch is now free for PS+ users. Even if you don't have PS+, it's still worth grabbing this game at $6.99. Also, on the opposite end of the cuteness spectrum, the brutal Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days demo is now public. (more)

If you've ever played it, you know what I'm talking about -- Firemint's Flight Control for iPod/iPhone is awesome. The premise is simple, with players guiding aimless aircraft to their landing pad and runway destinations, careful not to cross paths or… boom! (more)

The eight choices for Deadliest Warrior consideration

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2598 days, 19 hours, 43 minutes ago
Tuesday, July 13, 2010 9:21:23 AM GMT
Time is just flying past me. Deadliest Warrior, the game based on a television program of same name, comes out this week on Xbox Live and I totally spaced on it happening. As if to remind me, these new screenshots featuring the eight playable characters just appeared out of nowhere. I found myself pleasantly surprised by this game when I saw it at E3 last month. It's quick, brutal and looks to provide a good value. I'll probably be picking it up on Wednesday. (more)

Dead Space Ignition is a downloadable Dead Space 2 prequel, for XBLA and PSN

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2603 days, 20 hours, 29 minutes ago
Thursday, July 08, 2010 8:35:13 AM GMT
We know Dead Space-dev Visceral Games has had its eye on the downloadable space -- along with the rest of EA -- for some time now with the oft-rumored Jack the Ripper title and something else. Well, that something else is Dead Space Ignition, "the first of many exciting game extensions we have planned for the launch of Dead Space 2," says Dead Space franchise exec producer Steve Papoutsis. Get your prequel on with Dead Space Ignition for PSN/XBLA

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2603 days, 20 hours, 46 minutes ago

This shouldn't come as too absurd a notion given prior statements from EA about wanting to lead up to full retail titles with downloadable games. The intention is, I assume, to raise excitement levels, get us talking, and possibly even bring in some new players who would've otherwise passed on final, $60 game (more)

ACE Team putting Zeno Clash 2 on the back burner

In a sea of sequels, one of my biggest surprises at E3 2010 was ACE Team's Rock of Ages. Long story short, it's batsh*t crazy and I desperately want to try it out. Long story long, Tim has a preview of this bizarre take on the increasingly lifeless tower defense genre. (more)

Aliens vs. Predator gets Bughunt Map Pack DLC July 7

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2610 days, 20 hours, 47 minutes ago
Thursday, July 01, 2010 8:17:12 AM GMT
The problem with the struggle between the Aliens and Predators is that both are pretty equally matched: Predators have a lot of technology and stand about 200 feet tall (give or take a couple hundred feet), while Aliens have greater numbers and acidic blood that could eat through a truckload of fruitcake in milliseconds. Humans have -- uh, actually, we just have soft, fertile bodies and aesthetically-pleasing skull shapes. Talk about your bum deals, right? (more)

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 DLC is coming back | Joystiq

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2611 days, 10 hours, 34 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 30, 2010 6:29:59 PM GMT
It's been a roller coaster ride this year for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2fans. First, all DLC for the game vanished from PSN -- it was explained that the DLC was merely a "limited time offer." Then, it vanished from Xbox Live, too. Now, gamers are forced to simply play the game itself, deprived of access to all DLC. Can you imagine the horror? But fear not, for the DLC is returning when it's needed most -- just like a good superhero. Word comes via Hero HQ that the DLC is coming back, and we've manage... (more)

In North America, XSEED is releasing a bunch of Nihon Falcom PSP games, including Ys Seven and several The Legend of Heroes games, on UMD, with Ys Seven getting the full limited-edition treatment. XSEED is also planning to provide Europe with a bumper crop of Falcom games -- in a convenient format. The XSEED rep said that the releases would occur "shortly after the North American release, but a UM... (more)

Jaffe's got a filmmaking Sweet Tooth for PSN

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2616 days, 21 hours, 18 minutes ago
Friday, June 25, 2010 7:45:47 AM GMT
We've been fooled before by Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe and his Twitter account, so we'll treat his recent statements expressing interest in making a Sweet Tooth-based, "low-budget slasher movie," with with the same trepidation we reserve for buying ice cream from an evil clown. That said, his phrasing is pretty straightforward: "I want us to make an honest to goodness, low-budget slasher movie and sell it on PSN exclusive. Peeps saying we are making a PSN Sweet Tooth GAME got it wrong." (more)

Sony explains PlayStation Plus: here's what your $50 annually buys

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2616 days, 21 hours, 49 minutes ago

With less than a week before PlayStation Network's premium subscription plan launches, many gamers still haven't the foggiest idea what it does -- which isn't terribly promising for a service that costs $50 a year, or even $18 for three months. Thankfully, the official PlayStation.Blog has stepped forward to clear up that noise, explaining more concretely what comes with PlayStation Plus. While you'll still get online network play for free -- assuming you've accepted Sophie's Sony's Choice -- if you choo... (more)

E3 10: The Deadliest Warrior is a pleasant surprise

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2620 days, 20 hours, 14 minutes ago
Monday, June 21, 2010 8:50:30 AM GMT
Spike TV has had considerable success with their television show, Deadliest Warrior. So, it's easy to make the assumption that the upcoming videogame based on the program might be little more than a crass cash-in. That's why I'm really glad that I had the opportunity to check the game out at E3 this week. The means of taking the show's premise of pitting two disparate, historical warriors against one another and putting into the medium of games is about as simple as it gets. Deadliest Warrior is a one... (more)

The Xbox Live Arcade versions of both Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure were playable at Sega's booth, and both still look great, even ten-plus years after their release. However, each game has one issue that keeps the XBLA (and PSN) version from absolute perfection. (more)
