I'm a sucker for action-RPGs, dungeon crawlers, hack-and-slash...things -- you know, whatever you want to call them. Those games. My wife and I eat them up like candy, sometimes over the course of a mere weekend (as was the case with the Norrath series and the Gauntlet franchise). (more)

Developer WayForward Technologies has been able to carve out a niche for itself in the gaming industry through its careful reboots of select series. Harmonix adjusting Rock Band Blitz coin economy

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1844 days, 6 hours, 59 minutes ago
Friday, September 07, 2012 6:28:56 AM GMT
Harmonix has made an update to Rock Band Blitz today which adjusts the game's economy. Responding to players who have complained about the cost/benefit ratio of Coin expenses and awards in regards to using power-ups (which are a necessity for any high-level play), the developer has standardized the cost of power-ups across all songs as well as their rewards, which now pay out 100 Coins per star earned. This balancing of the economy will be executed server-side, meaning there is no actual patch necessary ... (more)

Review: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD Version

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1844 days, 7 hours ago
Friday, September 07, 2012 6:28:04 AM GMT
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure originated as a Japanese manga beginning in the late 1980s, and has since become a beloved series in Japan. The original videogame came to America in 2000 for the PlayStation and Dreamcast, and it is now being re-released in HD similar to what was done for Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition. Review: The Walking Dead: Long Road Ahead

Sunday, September 02, 2012 7:22:17 AM GMT
I'm not one to boast, mainly because I'm terrible at it, but on occasion I have been known to state my belief that in a zombie apocalypse I'd probably do alright. I have no idea why I think that years of sitting on my arse, reading comics, and watching zombies on TV would make up for my lack of fitness, tar-caked lungs, and general cowardliness, but there you have it. If one thing is going to stick with me from Long Road Ahead it's that I'm kidding myself -- I'd be a terrible survivor, and a far worse le... (more)

Mini-games. Apparently, they're still a thing. If you own one of those new-fangled motion controllers for your system, invariably you'll discover that there are mini-game collections to be found for your device. PlayStation Move users have one of these collections available now as a download on PlayStation Network. (more)

Lights, Camera, Party! out today on PSN, new trailer in tow

We never expected to use the words "minigame collection" and "David Lynch" in the same sentence, but here we are. The above launch trailer for Lights, Camera, Party!, which hits PSN today, is either a goofy look at a family-friendly collection of Move-based party games, or a surrealist descent into total madness -- we're not entirely sure. The videos, both above and after the break, show off the $5 DLC pack's Airport and Los Angeles levels (respectively), as well as its exclusive revert move. (more)

Review: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

In sixth grade, I would wake up for school at 5:30 AM, but then I started getting up at 4:30 just to get a couple rounds in before class. Call it dedication or a sickening obsession, but I was hooked on CS (nevermind my neighbor who broke into my house to play while I slept!) It was more than a game. It was my social hub, my iTunes visualizer, and my brief entryway into game design (which didn’t go very far.) It is and remains a standout multiplayer shooter that paved the way for things to come with Call... (more)

After more notable hardcore strategy RPGs came onto the scene, the whole genre (along with most traditional Japanese RPGs) abruptly got neglected in favor of the new influx of Western RPGs that often includes a focus on action-oriented gameplay and flashier graphics. (more)
