We rarely talk about PlayStation minis. Frankly, quite a lot of them look downright terrible, and I say that as someone who is -- generally speaking -- always looking for the positives, no matter how overwhelmingly apparent the more dreadful aspects are. (more)

The man behind Solid Snake, Hideo Kojima, is heading stateside, ready to pound American pavement to drum up support for his latest game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. The benefit to you? You can rub elbows with the man. Sony offering PSP developers code to 'slow down' piracy

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2680 days, 22 hours, 48 minutes ago
Saturday, May 22, 2010 8:30:05 AM GMT
Sony's senior vice president of publisher relations, Rob Dyer, has always been vocal about the "biggest problem" that plagues the PSP: Piracy. However, a new endeavor by the platform holder may offer renewed hope in the continued battle against illegal downloads. Dyer told Gamasutra that Sony has been helping developers implement some kind of protective code, potentially offering "a 60-day shelf life" before a game inevitably "gets hacked." (more)

The Reject Pile Of Spring 2010

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2685 days, 10 hours, 58 minutes ago

I try to possess as few video games as possible, because it is my dream to only own masterpieces. I haven't achieved this dream yet — hey, I can't bring myself to get rid of Geist, okay? But I did manage to eliminate about a fifth of my video game collection this weekend. Bear in mind that, as someone who covers games for a living, I get a lot of discs sent to me that I would not choose to buy; among those are some I will mess around with and decide to either keep or get rid of. G5 Entertainment's Supermarket Mania is leaping from iPhone and PC to the PlayStation Minis program. While it may not be the Supermarket Sweeps game we've always dreamed of, it does offer casual gamers the chance to become a supermarket manager. Players will have to keep the shelves well stocked and serve customers, "including hard-to-please celebrities." (Does that mean you'll have to keep stock of illegal drugs?) (more)

Review: 2010 FIFA World Cup

After receiving a quick pass at the top of the box in a qualifying match against Denmark, Albanian striker Hamdi Salihi fired a neat ball across keeper Thomas Sørensen into the bottom corner of the goal. In the midst of his celebrations, I held down the left bumper on my controller and toggled the right stick back and forth, prompting Salihi into a series of -- for lack of a better word -- jump kicks, the last of which hit defender Daniel Agger in the face. If you've been keeping up with the upcoming content expansion for LittleBigPlanet on the PSP, you've already heard about its new stock car racing-inspired tracks and vehicles. However, a new Media Molecule dev diary has revealed the DLC will not only allow players to race, but also to create. Oh, wait. They could already do that, couldn't they? To clarify, it will give Sackpeople a whole slew of construction-based vehicles, such as forklifts, cranes and cement mixers. (more)

If you purchase a Go on Dell's site right now, you'll get an instant $60 rebate, knocking the total cost down to $189. Shipping is free as well, so you won't concern yourself with any pesky weight and distance estimations. As the salespeople on TV would say, you just set it, and forget it. (more)

Ah, remember the days of FMV game play? Well, I guess "game play" doesn't exactly fit. It was closer to watching. Watching and thinking. Like Myst. One of my favorites ever was a PC game called Drowned God. Did anyone out there also play that? Freaky sh*t. I love these FMV games, so I'm glad that there's another coming in the form of a PSP/PS3 Mini. Sanuk Games' Hysteria Project puts you in the middle of the FMV.
