Final Fantasy IV Interlude will finally be playable in the PSP title Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection, set for a March 24th release in Japan. It's a whole new chunk of RPG goodness that fills in the story Final Fantasy IV and The After Years. It takes place a year after the first game ends, and you play as Cecil. (more)

PSP Go price cut quietly slinks away, now priced at original $200 MSRP

When Sony hacked $50 from the PSP Go's price earlier this week, it didn't exactly trumpet the news, and now it's looking like a permanent $150 MSRP for the UMD-less handheld was too good to be true. (more)

Sony PSP dips down to $130, wants to be your cheap thrill until the NGP gets here

posted by adminadmin 2281 days, 9 hours, 14 minutes ago

Sony is treating its portable gaming fans well these days by giving them the one-two punch of having both a world-beating device to look forward to in the future and an affordable one to pass the time with until then. Starting this Sunday, the venerable PSP-3000 will be yours to own for just $130, taking it dangerously close to impulse buy territory, while Sony is also adding a few more titles to its $20 PSP Greatest Hits collection, including Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker ... PSN classics archive numbers over 600 games ... in Japan

posted by adminadmin 2283 days, 9 hours, 40 minutes ago

Sony recently celebrated the considerable size of its "Game Archives" on the Japanese PlayStation Store, which now warehouses more than 600 titles of yesteryear. Siliconera took note of the achievement (er, Trophy?), pointing out that the collection spans a modest assortment of TurboGrafx-16 and Neo Geo games, but for the most part it's made up of PS1 titles. VIDEO: Man Tries to Eat Deep Fried PSP

Boredom can be a dangerous thing. In high school, it could mean launching eggs at construction workers through the passenger window of a moving car, or playing "box ball" with a bat and a road stringed with a long row of mailboxes. In college it could mean running in a drunken stupor along the lip of a twenty-story building, or stealing a small fishing boat to sled down a snowy hill in a city park. For some, it could mean slapping batter on a perfectly good Sony PSP handheld and deep-frying it in a vat o... (more)

Sony Says the PSP2 Won't Be Unaffordable

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2308 days, 9 hours, 18 minutes ago
Sunday, January 30, 2011 9:33:53 AM GMT
Yesterday saw Sony finally reveal the PSP2 at an event in Tokyo. With its quad-core CPU, and quad-core GPU, it’s definitely a beast. However, one thing that was not mentioned was price. We know it will not be available until the holiday season, so it’s likely the price hasn’t been nailed down yet. Still, given the specs, it probably won’t be cheap. (more)

MLB 11 The Show has one-button controls for the disabled

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2309 days, 9 hours, 31 minutes ago

Thanks to its ongoing relationship with a disabled gamer, Sony San Diego has added a special difficulty level to this year's iteration of its annual baseball series, MLB 11 The Show. Hans Smith, a 25-year-old St. Louis Cardinals fan with cerebral palsy, wrote a letter to the developer a few years ago, and the studio was so struck by his words that they put him in last year's game, reports ESPN. Not all NGP models will support 3G

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2310 days, 11 hours, 11 minutes ago
Friday, January 28, 2011 7:41:09 AM GMT
Sony has clarified that its upcoming portable, codenamed "Next Generation Portable," will come in more than one flavor. That 3G support it mentioned won't be featured in every NGP model. According to Sony Europe's Andrew House, only one model will feature the 3G capability, and the service will (obviously) cost extra. All units, however, will ship with Wi-Fi support, explains House. EEDAR's Jesse Divnich estimates NGP will cost $300 to $350

Electronic Entertainment Design and Research analyst Jesse Divnich has a few ideas about what Sony meant by "an affordable price that's appropriate for the handheld gaming space" when talking about the NGP's launch price. Speaking with GamesIndustry, Divnich predicted that the device would retail for between $299 and $349 at launch, which ... um, seems a little high when compared to other contenders in the "handheld gaming space." Following the unveil of its bodacious next generation portable (NGP) PlayStation device, Sony let a swarm of journalists (including us) on stage to get a closer look at the PSP's dual-stick, quad-core successor. No touching, but we were able to direct our lens mighty close and compare the NXP with a PSP and PSP Go before the on-hand staff shooed us away. Enjoy the pictures (more)

Mock it up, talk it up and leak it out all you want, only Sony has the power to actually bring the so-called "PSP2" into the world -- and that moment has come. The "sequel" to the PlayStation Portable was made official today (like, just now!) during a press event in Japan, looking every bit as -- well, that thing looks like the PSP, doesn't it? (more)

The company unveiled a cross-platform software framework called PlayStation Suite, which sounds rather boring in those words, but what it amounts to is an official PlayStation Store filled with games for your Android tablets and cellphones. We're expecting Sony to officially announce and detail the successor to the PSP later this week. But, Japanese newspaper Nikkei is alleging a few early details. Firstly, the portable will supposedly feature an OLED screen. Secondly (and more importantly!), the system will support 3G data, enabling over-the-air multiplayer and video and game downloads. In Japan, the service will be offered by NTT DoCoMo. And although the PSP2 will connect to cellular service, it won't make phone calls -- that's left for t... (more)
