DC Unlimited releases Killzone 3 action figure line

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2413 days, 6 hours, 11 minutes ago
Friday, April 15, 2011 6:38:13 AM GMT
If a Killzone enthusiast wanted to recreate the action of his or her beloved shooter franchise on the carpeted floor of their living room, their only option used to be the one and only action figure that came in the Killzone 3 Helghast Edition. We suppose they could have also strapped a tiny gas mask on a Barbie and used their imagination as well -- thankfully, that kind of roleplaying is no longer necessary: PlayStation Blog has announced that a line of two new figures have arrived from DC Unlimited. Yakuza 4 producer Yasuhiro Noguchi on re-localizing the series

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2414 days, 5 hours, 4 minutes ago
Thursday, April 14, 2011 7:45:31 AM GMT
March is typically a big month for the Yakuza series. In 2010, Yakuza 3 came out in the West in March, and Yakuza 4 in Japan. This year, Yakuza 4 hit North America and Europe, and Yakuza: Of the End almost came out in Japan (but was delayed to June 9 due to the earthquake). On the occasion of 4's Western release, we spoke to producer Yasuhiro Noguchi about the changes made between the last two games, and the significant step forward Sega made in localization. (more)

Wednesday, April 13, 2011 6:32:35 AM GMT
The post-launch support team at Bethesda and Obsidian is preparing to launch a fix for one of the biggest issues still facing Fallout: New Vegas. No, not its apocalyptic levels of irradiation -- the game-crashing bugs and other performance-wrecking snafus that pepper the game's ruined landscape. According to a recent post on Bethesda's blog, a patch targeting "optimizations and stability improvements" is currently in the certification process for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. (more)

Rebellion's supernatural action title, NeverDead, has a unique hook: Its main character can fight even when his limbs have been severed. Part Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and even Dead to Rights, it also seems to share Splatterhouse's sphincter fixation. It's all pieced together in these new screens. (more)

Remedy: LA Noire raises the bar for facial animation

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2416 days, 5 hours, 29 minutes ago
Tuesday, April 12, 2011 7:20:08 AM GMT
When we first saw the facial-mapping in LA Noire, we must admit we were taken aback. The level of realism is something amazing to behold, as we've said in the past, but we're not the only ones impressed. Edge toured Remedy Entertainment recently, sampling some of the developer's new motion-capture tech for it's next game, and the studio is apparently quite enamored with what they've seen in LA Noire. Duke Nukem: Critical Mass trailer skips the PSP version for good reason

After a mysterious quiet period (which is totally uncharacteristic for a Duke Nukem game), Deep Silver and Apogee are planning to release Duke Nukem: Critical Mass for DS this week in Europe and next month in North America. You can see it in action in the trailer after the break, and, well ... it looks like a thoroughly humiliating experience, narrated by Jon St. John. (more)

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition drives to PSN, XBLA this October | Joystiq

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2422 days, 4 hours, 35 minutes ago
Wednesday, April 06, 2011 8:14:45 AM GMT
EA Sports is working on a follow-up to last year's reboot of NBA Jam, but this one's going download-only. NBA Jam: On Fire Edition is set to take the court in October for both PS3 and Xbox Live (no Wii release announced) and will arrive via PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, respectively. It's worth noting that last year's game was a full $50 retail release, but a stripped-down version was originally planned as a downloadable title free to those who purchased new copies of the ill-fated NBA Elite 11. Rockstar's Dan Houser on transmedia and building L.A. Noire

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2422 days, 4 hours, 39 minutes ago
Wednesday, April 06, 2011 8:09:57 AM GMT
The Hollywood Reported chatted with Rockstar's Dan Houser at the Tribeca Film Festival (where L.A. Noire is being shown off as an "interactive screening") and he said that, despite all of the attempts at solid transmedia properties recently, "no one has done it very successfully yet." The issue, in his opinion, is that companies are all too often going for money rather than what's right for the medium. "Too often, however," he said, "the aim appears to be to cash-in on the success of a particular game, b... (more)
