The PlayStation Move homebrew community hasn't been quite as prolific as Kinect's. But that may soon change with the introduction of Move.me. Coming soon, Move.me is a downloadable application for the PS3 that allows researchers, students, hobbyists, developers, anyone, the ability to develop for the PlayStation Move. "We want to see what innovative applications programmers can create using the PS Move controller, the PS3 system, the PlayStation Eye camera, and a PC," the official site decrees. (more)

Friday, March 04, 2011 9:55:54 AM GMT
As heavily hinted at in comments made by Homefront devs Kaos Studios and publisher THQ eariler this year, it looks like the future of the franchise won't be created solely in The Big Apple. Senior VP of Core Studios Dave Davis spoke to the THQ Montreal/Kaos Studios collaboration during a studio head roundtable this afternoon at GDC. "Wherever the talent is, we will have our studios," Davis told us, though he admitted that "Manhattan is an incredibly expensive place. (more)

THQ planning North Korean protest to promote Homefront

posted by adminadmin 2305 days, 21 hours, 49 minutes ago
Wednesday, March 02, 2011 9:13:07 AM GMT
Surprised? Yeah, we're not either. Turns out that THQ is once again planning a North Korean-themed event , though this time it's GDC that the publisher is invading. As reported by the SF Weekly, anti-North Korean protesters (read: hired actors) will be marching across the Golden Gate bridge, through the streets of SF, and ending across the street from GDC at Yerba Buena Gardens. And as you likely inferred from the headline above, the protest is staged in promotion of the company's next game, Homefront. (more)

Viral marketing lets slip the dogtags of Modern Warfare 3 [update: Activision comments]

posted by adminadmin 2309 days, 21 hours, 18 minutes ago
Saturday, February 26, 2011 9:43:33 AM GMT
Two years ago, Infinity Ward used the Game Developer's Conference Awards show to unveil the trailer (and date!) for its hugely anticipated followup, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. If we're reading the signals right, it's looking to use the conference for the reveal of the third installment (Modern Warfare 3?), a game that's been shrouded in mystery following the developer's very public (and very ugly!) executive departures. PSA: New Vegas 'Dead Money' DLC now on PC and PS3

posted by adminadmin 2311 days, 21 hours, 42 minutes ago
Thursday, February 24, 2011 9:19:53 AM GMT
If you're a PS3 or PC owner who's been out of the loop on all this "Dead Money" business, you might be under the impression that it's actually the name of some kind of new, SoCal-based hip-hop dance crew. This impression is wildly incorrect. It's actually the name of a DLC expansion to Fallout: New Vegas that's been available on 360 since December -- though your native console has access to it starting today. (more)

PSN classics archive numbers over 600 games ... in Japan

Sony recently celebrated the considerable size of its "Game Archives" on the Japanese PlayStation Store, which now warehouses more than 600 titles of yesteryear. Siliconera took note of the achievement (er, Trophy?), pointing out that the collection spans a modest assortment of TurboGrafx-16 and Neo Geo games, but for the most part it's made up of PS1 titles. PlayStation hackers reportedly able to unban selves, ban others, turn tables

posted by adminadmin 2313 days, 44 minutes ago

Just last week Sony said that those found to have hacked their PlayStation 3 consoles would have their PlayStation Network access "terminated permanently." Harsh words that, unsurprisingly, weren't too warmly received by the hacking community. Destructoid is now reporting that not only have those tinkerers found a way to unban themselves, but that they can in turn ban any other console they want. (more)

Call of Juarez: The Cartel ban proposed in Mexico

posted by adminadmin 2313 days, 22 hours, 40 minutes ago

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Call of Juarez: The Cartel has angered officials in Mexico. State legislators in the border town of Ciudad Juarez (located in the state of Chihuahua) have asked the Mexican government to impose a ban, arguing that the game's content could potentially make light of recent drug violence across the region and cause children to grow up with a "lack of values." Black Ops outmaneuvers Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on UK charts

posted by adminadmin 2313 days, 22 hours, 41 minutes ago

Call of Duty: Black Ops received some marketing reinforcements last week in the UK to regain the top spot, its eighth time as king of the hill. The move stole Marvel vs. Capcom 3's premiere Thor thunder, as the fighter debuted in second place. Don't feel too bad for MvC3, though -- Chart-Track notes that the title sold as many copies in its first week as its predecessor did in its lifetime on PS2 and Xbox (the company doesn't have access to the XBLA and PSN figures). After months of beating around the proverbial bush, Zoe Mode has confirmed that the charitable, rhythmic puzzler Chime will make its way to the PSN this Spring. It's newest iteration will actually be titled Chime Super Deluxe, which we initially believed to indicate the addition of short, super hilarious internet cartoons. No dice -- Zoe Mode explained on PlayStation Blog that the game's "Deluxeness" can be attributed to its 10-strong tracklist, as well as its two multiplayer modes, which were sadly left... (more)
