First Karaoke Revolution Glee screens

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2588 days, 5 hours, 7 minutes ago

Konami has released the first screenshots of Karaoke Revolution Glee. They're about how you'd expect, comprised of footage from the show and a lyric track. The best part about the game, of course, is that you won't have to wait to sing along with the show every week. What? You don't do that? Oh, well neither do we. (more)

Tiger Woods PGA Tour sales down, perhaps 'permanently'

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2589 days, 3 hours, 46 minutes ago
Tuesday, July 20, 2010 8:19:31 AM GMT
Last year, EA Sports scored a bona-fide hit on the Wii with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, the first game in the series with MotionPlus functionality. (The game was packaged with one MotionPlus unit.) Apparently, though, many of the folks who bought a copy last June have had their fill of virtual golf -- or, to be precise, of Tiger Woods -- for now. (more)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2594 days, 2 hours, 50 minutes ago
Thursday, July 15, 2010 9:15:46 AM GMT
Prior to E3, DJ Hero 2 developer Freestyle Games' Jamie Jackson said that the sequel would feature a massive artist list, packed with even more popular artists than the first game. The barometer for this popularity he said, was YouTube -- he said the artists on the soundtrack received over 1.2 billion hits on YouTube. (more)

Japan special edition No More Heroes 2 comes with stuff

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2594 days, 3 hours, 6 minutes ago

He who laughs last, laughs best. That's what I always told myself whenever the Japanese would get a game months or years before I would get the opportunity to play it. I would hope, often against fate, that the version I got would have a special edition full of nifty stuff the Japanese didn't get and then I could feel better about the wait. (more)

Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring knocked back to October

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2596 days, 2 hours, 47 minutes ago
Tuesday, July 13, 2010 9:18:45 AM GMT
Funny joke: Slang and Konami had originally scheduled to ship its Mexican wrestling title, Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring the same time Madden NFL 11 was hitting shelves. Yup. Well, no longer. The title is now set to hit shelves on October 12 to "maximize the game's potential, while taking full advantage of the upcoming holiday season." In other words, to get it the hell away from the launch of EA Sports' "sure thing" juggernaut. (more)

Gamestop has announced their pre-order bonus for Sonic Colors. If you put $5 or more on either the Wii or DS versions of the game, you'll get a authentic Sonic wig, complete with widow's peak. Pre-order both versions of the game, and you'll get two wigs. Then you can dye one of them black and have a "Sonic and Shadow House Party Pajama-Jammy-Jam", with Sonic Colors running on the Wii and the DS all night. I guarantee you'll get lucky. Chicks go bananas for that sort of thing. (more)

NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown appeals dismissed lawsuit against EA

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2601 days, 3 hours, 37 minutes ago
Thursday, July 08, 2010 8:28:31 AM GMT
Jim Brown, nine-season running back for the Cleveland Browns and NFL Hall of Fame inductee, filed a lawsuit against Electronic Arts in 2008 for using his likeness in Madden '09 without first obtaining his permission. Last September, U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper (who passed away in January from lymphoma) ruled that EA was protected by First Amendment rights -- a decision which Brown is now attempting to overturn in a San Francisco appellate court. Sengoku Basara screens, here they are, look at them

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2605 days, 2 hours, 59 minutes ago

More screens for Sengoku Basara. Here they are. Look at them with your eyes. Let your brain process the date. Fun for all the family. After having played the game at E3, I'm quite looking forward to it. As you all know, I love a good hack n' slash title, and Sengoku Basara seems to be a massive improvement over Devil Kings. It's just a shame that the improvement has come after all the cool characters like Nobunaga have died off. Ah well. (more)

Toribash smacks WiiWare Europe upside the head next week

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2605 days, 3 hours ago
Sunday, July 04, 2010 9:06:03 AM GMT
Anyway, the news here is that Toribash is finally making it to WiiWare, at least in Europe. Word from Nintendo of Europe is that the game will hit WiiWare next week. The game is set to cost 1,000 Wii points, which is a little steep for a game currently available for free on PC and Mac. Cave Story and Noitu Love 2 are amongst the few games that can get away with that sort of thing. Toribash? I'm not so sure. I suppose it all comes down to how many new features they add. (more)

New Super Mario Bros. Wii tops 15 million in sales

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2605 days, 3 hours, 1 minute ago

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is kind of a big deal. Not only is it the first side-scrolling Mario game to allow for 4-player simultaneous co-op, but it also marked the triumphant return of "real" 2D Mario on home console. Super Paper Mario and Wario Land: Shake It! came first, but it was New Super Mario Bros. Wii that really brought the 2D series back to in full force to televisions everywhere. (more)

Ah, the July 4th weekend. The perfect time for grilling hot dogs, setting off fireworks, jumping in the pool, and ... hockey? That's what 2K Games wants you to think about -- it's sending an NHL 2K11 recreational vehicle on the road this summer, giving you a chance to play the new game in a town near you. The RV started at E3 a few weeks ago in LA, and after a quick stop in Santa Monica next week, it's off to the wild roads of the United States and Canada (the full schedule is after the break). (more)

Rock Band 3's pitch correction provided by iZotope

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2608 days, 17 hours, 39 minutes ago

You won't need to swallow a little computer to sound robotically awesome in Rock Band 3. Audio signal processing company iZotope, Inc. has announced that it's providing pitch correction technology to the music game, as initially revealed to Joystiq in an interview with Harmonix. The game will use iZotope's real-time pitch detection and correction to make you sound less like yourself and more like someone who can hit a damn note occasionally. And for those of you who are already vocally gifted, the use o... (more)

Inazuma Eleven coming to Wii

The longest line I've ever seen to play a specific game (not counting the E3 2006 line to play the Wii) was at Tokyo Game Show a few years back, at Level-5's booth. Everyone wanted to play soccer game Inazuma Eleven for the DS. Since those days the series has been going strong. And soccer is big right now, so why not announce a sequel for the Wii? (more)

Junction Point taking the (mean) Mickey out of Epic Mickey

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2609 days, 12 hours, 16 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 29, 2010 11:49:37 PM GMT
One of the key features in Disney Epic Mickey is the ability for players to choose either good or evil actions as Mickey Mouse. We originally learned that Mickey's appearance would change based on what sort of actions you take. Take good actions, and he would appear more like the Mickey we all know and love. Take evil actions, on the other hand, and he would transform into something decidedly more sinister. (more)

Epic Mickey team rivals that of Call of Duty

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2611 days, 4 hours, 8 minutes ago
Monday, June 28, 2010 7:57:26 AM GMT
These days it takes a massive team of people to make a AAA game. Games like Call of Duty: Black Ops (300 people) or Assassin's Creed (450 people) have huge teams that work on every detail and cost a lot of money. Most Wii games on the other hand, not so much. Epic Mickey, though, is a mouse of a different color. (more)

MDK2 coming to Wii and PC

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2611 days, 4 hours, 9 minutes ago
Monday, June 28, 2010 7:56:31 AM GMT
MDK2 is quite the game. It's a little weird, but a total blast to play with some really creative level design for its three playable characters. Or so I'm told. I've never actually dug into it because I have a fear of characters with large pointy heads (damn you, Silent Hill!). However, if I can overcome my largiapointyheadphobia by later this year I will have another chance to play the game as Interplay and Beamdog have announced that the BioWare-developed game will be getting a Wii and PC release. Twisted Pixel helping with Turbine-developed console MMO

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2611 days, 4 hours, 16 minutes ago

More from Twisted Pixel already? The digitally prolific studio that brought us The Maw and 'Splosion Man (in the same year, no less) -- not to mention the still-in-development Comic Jumper -- has quietly announced "a contract with Turbine to help them build an awesome new MMO intended for consoles." Yep, for consoles. Unfortunately, the developer seems to be keeping mum on more details, saying, "If you want more than that, you'll have to take it up with Turbine, because we can't spill the beans on their... (more)
