More Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes screenshots

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2646 days, 1 hour, 45 minutes ago

Time for more samurai silliness from Sengoku Basara. The Wii iteration of Capcom's Dynasty Warriors clone is coming along very nicely, and I'm definitely liking what I've seen so far. Here are some new screenshots featuring one of the less absurdly dressed characters, Ieyasu Tokugawa. He likes to punch things. (more)

Mario is for guys in their fifties

It's not uncommon for people to say that Nintendo only makes games for kids, and that the Mario games in particular are kid-only experiences. For instance, Blur, an upcoming "realistic" racing game featuring missile launching race cars and giant explosions, has a new commercial that's all about how Mario Kart isn't for "big boys". That may or may not be the case, but what about "old men"? What games are for them? Well, according to Shigeru Miyamoto, a +50 year old man, Mario games are made for him, and ... (more)

Red Steel 3 needs to 'know' it has an audience

Red Steel was garbage. Red Steel 2 was great. Red Steel 3? Who knows if that will ever happen? Red Steel 2 director Jason Vandenberghe hopes we'll see another entry in the series, but following the disappointing sales performance of the last game, he has to know if enough people want it. (more)

Wii Rowing device is all sorts of magically dumb

Look, I think we all get it. There is a good chance that gamers, more than the general population, is made up of fatties. And you know what? C'est la vie! I say if anyone wants to lose some weight or become healthier, there are some mature, grown-up ways of going about this. For example, I am eating a chicken and broccoli Lean Pocket right now. It is cheesy and delicious. See, there are options for everything. (more)

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Means No Rest For GameStop Employees

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2649 days, 2 hours, 4 minutes ago

It appears Mario prefers to be an early riser, rather than a night owl. Forgoing a midnight launch for Super Mario Galaxy 2 this weekend, many GameStop locations will instead open early, forcing many employees to miss church. (more)

Look -- the above TV spots for Super Mario Galaxy 2 are really slick and all, but now we've got one thing on our mind: pancakes. Now that we know there's a stack of flapjacks out there with its own gravitational pull, we just can't wait to dig in. Thankfully, we won't have to wait too long to satiate our need for edible planetary bodies. (more)

The Reject Pile Of Spring 2010

I try to possess as few video games as possible, because it is my dream to only own masterpieces. I haven't achieved this dream yet — hey, I can't bring myself to get rid of Geist, okay? But I did manage to eliminate about a fifth of my video game collection this weekend. Bear in mind that, as someone who covers games for a living, I get a lot of discs sent to me that I would not choose to buy; among those are some I will mess around with and decide to either keep or get rid of. Nintendo of America announced a strategic partnership with the American Heart Association this morning, effectively adding the AHA stamp of approval to all retail boxes of Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sports Resort, and the Nintendo Wii itself. "The brand serves as a chance to remind people about the benefits of a healthy approach to living and how active-play video games can be an integral part of a healthy lifestyle," the partnership's official website explains. Nintendo Wii gets American Heart Association's stamp of approval

When we heard that Nintendo and the American Heart Association would be making an announcement today, we (and most everyone else) assumed that it would have something to do with Nintendo's forthcoming Vitality Sensor. As it turns out, however, it's something altogether more surprising -- the AHA has announced that it's actually putting its stamp of approval on the Wii itself (as well as Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort). Rock Band DLC: The Smithereens join more Grateful Dead

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2653 days, 1 hour, 38 minutes ago

Grateful Dead fans should be grateful that Harmonix and MTV Games are flooding the Rock Band music store with even more of the band's content next week. "The Grateful Dead Pack 03" (yes, "03"!) brings six more of the legendary rocker's tracks to the platform, bringing the total number up to "a lot of tracks I haven't bought because I don't really like the band." (The actual number would be 18.) (more)
