As part of IGN's ongoing coverage of the Pokemon Video Game Championship, we've got the full list of where all the tournaments are being held across the US and Europe. IGN will even be at some of them to talk to trainers and get our butts kicked. The Pokemon VGC is a worldwide tournament pitting Pokemon Trainers of all ages in a competitive series of tournaments to find out who the greatest trainer is. The tournaments are worldwide, and culminate in an international, invite-only tournament, which takes p... (more)

Getting Online With Your Game Console

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2687 days, 20 hours, 23 minutes ago
Thursday, April 15, 2010 8:42:05 AM GMT
For those savvy to the ways of tech, connecting a game console to the internet is simple, but for others, it can be tricky (or a total nightmare). To help you through these early stages of console ownership, we've prepared a basic rundown of how to get your system online. If you just want to get internet via an ethernet cable, then your setup is going to be pretty painless. Both the PS3 and 360 have ethernet ports, but the Wii does not. Just run the cable from your router to your console and you're set. ... (more)

It's been about two months since Nintendo and Monolith Soft took the veils off Xenoblade, the new RPG from producer Tetsuya Takahashi and his team. Nintendo was originally planning a spring release for the Wii fantasy epic, but that's since been pushed back a bit -- according to the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Xenoblade will now touch down in Japan on June 10 for 6800 yen. Why Shooters Are Better on Wii

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2688 days, 19 hours, 28 minutes ago
Wednesday, April 14, 2010 9:36:26 AM GMT
I hate using the word "better" to describe a game. For a while now, I've wanted to move it onto the trash heap alongside "good," "bad," and "important," words that sound audacious but don't actually describe anything. That's the trap I've laid for myself, so let it be said here, if nowhere else: Wii shooters are better than the rest. Full stop. Hopefully you haven't snapped your mouse in rage while reading that. If you have, I promise to try and tell you just how and why so that loss won't have been in v... (more)

Wii Controllers Do Not Infringe Patents

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2688 days, 19 hours, 34 minutes ago
Wednesday, April 14, 2010 9:30:45 AM GMT
Nintendo's video game controllers do not infringe on a patent by Anascape Ltd., according to a court ruling today. The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled that Nintendo's controllers -- including the Wii Remote, Nunchuck, Classic Controller and various Gamecube controllers -- do not infringe on various patents filed by Anascape. This judgement reverses a 2008 decision in Texas, which would have forced Nintendo to stop selling its signature controllers. (more)

Tangling with giant beasts in Monster Hunter online serves a number of purposes. First, and probably most importantly, it can be a lot of fun. Second, it gets you nice items you can use later on to build new weapons and armor. Third, it's a lot easier to kill a boss with four players running around instead as opposed to offline play where it's just you and an AI companion named (more)

After a strong early showing on the U.K. charts, Just Cause 2 has been bumped out of the #1 spot by another "Just" title -- Ubisoft's Wii party game Just Dance. Nevertheless, Just Cause 2 continues to hold steady at #2, followed by mainstream favorites Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Modern Warfare 2 and Pokemon Soul Silver. Dropping out of the top 10 this week are March releases God of War III and and Final Fantasy XIII, falling to #14 and #15 respectively. Six of the top ten titles were released in 2009. ... (more)

Red Steel 2 Second Opinions

April 6, 2010 - After two weeks on the shelves, Red Steel 2 seems like it's doing pretty well for itself. I gave it a 8.6 out of 10, which definitely puts it on our "Great Game" scale, and it seems that the universal reception seems to be positive as well, receiving an average 8.0 in our GameStats aggregate. Cam Shea over in Australia loved it with an 8.4 out of 10, as did Kristan Reed in the UK, with an 8.5 out of 10. My review is just one gamer's opinion. I went around the IGN offices to check in with ... (more)

According to Silicon Era, the game is called And Kensaku, and includes a number of mini-games that incorporate Google search results into them.
