Female Shepard will play a greater role in Mass Effect 3 marketing

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2227 days, 22 hours, 38 minutes ago

For years, when confronted with Mass Effect marketing materials, you've been asking yourself, "Who is that dude?" Trailers, toys, boxart ... he's everywhere. Not only is that dude bland beefcake, but everyone knows that Shepard is a woman. With that said, BioWare's Director of Marketing David Silverman noted on Twitter that the company recently had a meeting about incorporating female Shepard into marketing materials and "are working on the look now." N-Control Avenger Xbox 360 attachment makes it look complicated, we go hands-on (video)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2229 days, 23 hours, 46 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 15, 2011 6:51:21 AM GMT
At first glance, the N-Control Avenger looks like the fevered dream of a quirky lunatic, destined for fame and failure as a legendary crapgadget. When one showed up on our doorstep, we were admittedly skeptical. Could a lever- and pulley-laden Xbox 360 controller clamshell really give us a competitive edge? Wouldn't all the extra bits and pieces only result in a cumbersome mess? Is this doodad really worth the $50 asking price? We went hands-on to find out, and boy howdy, were we surprised. (more)

The sheer amount of delight generated by the latest Rayman Origins media may be unquantifiable. Seriously, Ubisoft, it's not fair. Try and save some delight for everyone else. View the screens below and watch the trailer after the break, and try not to smile. We submit that it cannot be done. (more)

TriMount turns your Wii, Kinect, and PlayStation sensors into a video game Eye of Sauron

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2235 days, 23 hours, 46 minutes ago

All right, we get it. You love motion gaming. You fell so hard for your Wii that you had to run out and buy the Kinect and PlayStation Move the minute they hit stores. And now you've got a lot of sensors, but not much in the way of space atop your flatscreen. DreamGear understands your decidedly first world pain, and is offering up the TriMount, a shrine to gesture-based gaming that has slots for your Wii sensor bar, Kinect sensor, PlayStation Eye, and a clamp for attaching it to your set. The $30 setup ... (more)

Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel will arrive in early October for $60, give you something to hold on to

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2237 days, 23 hours, 4 minutes ago

Microsoft's Kinect motion controls may be infiltrating all sorts of games at this year's E3, but the Xbox maker isn't neglecting those in need of a more tangible control scheme. A new Wireless Speed Wheel has just been revealed, with a reasonable $60 price tag and an early October launch date. As you see above, it's technically three-fourths of a wheel, but that does allow for extra green bands of lights to be applied and, slightly more importantly, a set of directional and action buttons to be added to ... The big week is almost upon us, folks: E3 2011. And if this week is any indication of days to come, we'll have a constant flow of news mainlined directly from Los Angeles to your think meat. With that in mind, there are a handful of focal points throughout the week that will assuredly strike you as high priority, and as such, we thought a roadmap guiding you to those particular moments -- whether you're in Shibuya, or Queens, or anywhere else for that matter -- would be of particular use. Ever since Johnny Chung Lee was snatched up by Microsoft's Project Natal team to work on Kinect, we've been curious to see how his Wii head-tracking skills would come to fruition on the device. This week, an Inside Xbox episode shows us how it will work with Forza 4, and the Kinect enabled head-tracking appears to run fairly smoothly compared to others we've seen (just try getting similar results on Gran Turismo 5 with a PlayStation Eye). There's no word about other titles planning to make use of this ne... (more)
