After many weeks of controversy, Sony's arch rival Microsoft has finally spoken out about the PlayStation Network hack, and it decided against any smug or preening responses. In fact, the company suggested that the situation had a negative effect on the games making business. (more)

Silent Hill HD Collection changes voice actors

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2325 days, 5 hours, 16 minutes ago

Konami has announced that it would be recasting the voice actors for Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 on the HD collection. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the decision, but James Sunderland's original actor, Guy Chihi, has already formed an opinion -- and accused Konami of trying to duck out of paying him. (more)

TriMount turns your Wii, Kinect, and PlayStation sensors into a video game Eye of Sauron

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2328 days, 6 hours, 18 minutes ago
Thursday, June 09, 2011 6:51:14 AM GMT
All right, we get it. You love motion gaming. You fell so hard for your Wii that you had to run out and buy the Kinect and PlayStation Move the minute they hit stores. And now you've got a lot of sensors, but not much in the way of space atop your flatscreen. DreamGear understands your decidedly first world pain, and is offering up the TriMount, a shrine to gesture-based gaming that has slots for your Wii sensor bar, Kinect sensor, PlayStation Eye, and a clamp for attaching it to your set. The $30 setup ... (more)

E3: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection comparison shots

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2329 days, 5 hours, 7 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 08, 2011 8:01:41 AM GMT
Konami released a ton of screenshots that let you compare the old and HD remakes of the Metal Gear Solid games that comprise the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Check the gallery to see how the PSP version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and the PlayStation 2 versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater match up with their PS3 HD counterparts. The collection is also coming to the Xbox 360, but just imagine it will look exactly the same for sanity's sake. (more)

Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel will arrive in early October for $60, give you something to hold on to

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2330 days, 5 hours, 35 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 07, 2011 7:33:49 AM GMT
Microsoft's Kinect motion controls may be infiltrating all sorts of games at this year's E3, but the Xbox maker isn't neglecting those in need of a more tangible control scheme. A new Wireless Speed Wheel has just been revealed, with a reasonable $60 price tag and an early October launch date. As you see above, it's technically three-fourths of a wheel, but that does allow for extra green bands of lights to be applied and, slightly more importantly, a set of directional and action buttons to be added to ... Review: Hunted: The Demon's Forge

The last time inXile graced the world with a console roleplaying was with The Bard's Tale back in 2004. Since then, the studio has been quietly working away on a number of mobile games, so it's certainly interesting to see the company return to full-scale RPGs after making games like Super Stacker, Super Stacker 2 and Super Stacker Party. E3: The rubbish MS will announce for Xbox 360

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2332 days, 5 hours, 52 minutes ago
Sunday, June 05, 2011 7:17:16 AM GMT
Microsoft has been pretty quiet in the run to E3, and it was speculated (by me) that we'd get a lame press conference from the Xbox 360 maker, for the third straight year. According to the list of games it's due to announce, the speculation is dead-on. (more)

This is the part where I’m supposed to speak, generally, about other Deus Ex games and say things like, “Deus Ex is the greatest game of all time and you’re stupid if you didn’t like it.” Then, I would smoothly transition to the subject of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and mention that Eidos Montreal is attempting to re-establish the series as an all-time great after the creation of the laughable Invisible War. Batarang controllers to be thrown at E3, come back in October

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2332 days, 6 hours, 5 minutes ago

If multiple batmobiles, a bat-usb stick, and a bat-puter aren't enough to convince you Bruce Wayne is a vain egomaniac, maybe these Batman: Arkham City batarang controllers will give you pause. In traditional bat-gadget fashion, these Xbox 360 and Ps3 controllers boast a cheesy bat-aesthetic (such as bat-start and select / back buttons), dual rumble motors, comfort-soft grips, and seven switchable splashes of LED color (more)

Kinect enabled head-tracking previewed in Forza 4 spotlight video, turns heads (video)

Ever since Johnny Chung Lee was snatched up by Microsoft's Project Natal team to work on Kinect, we've been curious to see how his Wii head-tracking skills would come to fruition on the device. This week, an Inside Xbox episode shows us how it will work with Forza 4, and the Kinect enabled head-tracking appears to run fairly smoothly compared to others we've seen (just try getting similar results on Gran Turismo 5 with a PlayStation Eye). There's no word about other titles planning to make use of this ne... (more)

Necro-Review: Metro 2033

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2337 days, 5 hours, 2 minutes ago
Tuesday, May 31, 2011 8:06:50 AM GMT
Metro 2033 was released on March 16, 2010. As I write this, it is May 30, 2011. You might be asking yourself why there's a review for Metro 2033 over a year after its launch. Well, Destructoid never officially reviewed Metro 2033. I had multiple problems getting several copies to work on both Xbox 360 and PC, while Anthony Burch decided to write a not-review after making it to the third chapter and refusing to indulge it any further. Dragon's Dogma screens lighten the mood

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2337 days, 5 hours, 4 minutes ago
Tuesday, May 31, 2011 8:04:46 AM GMT
Dragon's Dogma wants you all to know about its lighting effects, which is handy because these new screens show off exactly that. Convenient! The latest gallery has a range of scenes at various times of the day in order to show off the range of lighting on offer. From bright sunny vistas to gloomy, shadowy castles, the game has it all. Especially when it comes to fire, since Dragon's Dogma is increasingly looking like a pyromaniac's wet dream. (more)

Intense screenshots of Alice: Madness Returns

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2341 days, 4 hours, 50 minutes ago
Friday, May 27, 2011 8:19:27 AM GMT
One of the major selling points for Alice: Madness Returns is the game's twisted nature, and how the art style meshes nicely with the insanity. Take, for instance, these screenshots. When you enter "Hysteria!" mode, Alice goes all bloody eyed and the world turns black, white, and red, which is what these images depict. I think the original blood-vomiting teaser for Madness Returns has finally been one-upped. (more)

Review: DiRT 3

I love racing games, but my favorite kind are the ones that take you off the road and into the elements. Rally racing has always been my preference. Actually (cue harps and clouds), my money-no-object dream is to actually rally race across Africa. I'd probably roll and kill myself, though. For now, videogames will have to do the trick. DiRT 3 certainly does the trick. (more)

The classic Sonic levels will stay true to the Sega Genesis formula where speed was a reward rather than a given. The multi-path formula is also intact so the higher you go in the level, the more difficult it becomes and that in turn nets you better rewards. (more)
