Fashionably late: Modern Warfare 2 now has a demo

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2543 days, 21 hours, 1 minute ago
Thursday, August 05, 2010 9:36:47 AM GMT
Better late than never? As of this week, Modern Warfare 2 now has a single-player demo. It went live yesterday on PlayStation Network and hit Xbox LIVE earlier today (download link). You can probably understand why Infinity Ward didn't do this prior to the game's launch last November. Modern Warfare 2 is something of a known quantity at this point, and putting together a demo would've been time away from active development. (more)

Joystiq spoke with Molyneux following his appearance on the show and learned that some form of Kinect content may be available post-launch, and that whatever was initially planned to be built into the game just wasn't up to snuff. Operation Flashpoint: Red River revealed in upcoming OXM

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2546 days, 21 hours, 21 minutes ago
Monday, August 02, 2010 9:16:56 AM GMT
It appears that we'll see another addition to the Operation Flashpoint series in the coming year, with Operation Flashpoint: Red River being outed recently by OXM UK (via CVG). Other than revealing the title, OXM UK editor John Hicks also noted that the game is a sequel to last year's Dragon Rising and feels "tighter, more focused" than the last game. Presumably, Red River is being developed by Codemasters' Southam studio, as revealed by Codies VP Gavin Cheshire just last week. (more)

We've got some mixed emotions about the just revealed Tank mini-statue (statuette just doesn't seem fitting for a giant terrifying zombie), created by Gaming Heads for Valve. Sure, its detail is marvelous and it comes with a totally sweet, albeit miniature, pump-action shotgun, but it's also 325 real-life actual dollars for the "exclusive edition". (more)

NBA 2K11 soundtrack features Snoop Dogg, Ron Artest

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2550 days, 5 hours, 44 minutes ago

Snoop Dogg loves 2K Sports' NBA 2K series -- so much so, in fact, that he has recorded an exclusive track, the "NBA 2K Theme," for NBA 2K11. But Snoop is only one of more than 30 artists who appear on the 27-song soundtrack for the game. Other highlights include Drake, Outkast's Big Boi, Kid Cudi, and Ron Artest. That's right -- the Los Angeles Lakers small forward, who released a 21-track rap album in 2006, has contributed a cut to NBA 2K11. I wonder if he thanked his psychiatrist for getting him the gig.
