New content launches into Angry Birds Space

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1939 days, 6 hours, 14 minutes ago
Sunday, July 29, 2012 7:51:42 AM GMT
Thank your lucky stars! There's a new content for Angry Birds Space. Update 1.2.2 packs a hefty bag of goodies, adding 20 levels, a brand new orange bird, and a pig boss so big he has his own gravitational pull. As you can see, there's even a special Tetris themed level (though if you're anything like me, you're more interested in that caramel apple planet in the lower left of the screen shot. I want to go to there). (more)

Despite experiencing stronger revenues in Q2 2012 than in Q2 2011, Zynga reported a $22.8 million net loss for the quarter and lowered its outlook for the rest of the year to adjust for "delays in launching new games, a faster decline in existing web games due in part to a more challenging environment on the Facebook web platform, and reduced expectations for Draw Something." Last month brought some interesting news to light regarding the future of Sega's beloved SRPG franchise with the reveal of a free-to-play card-battling strategy game by the name of Valkyria Chronicles Duel. The announcement was somewhat vexing and served to provoke an already irate fan-base upset by the series' abandonment of the PlayStation 3 and Sega's refusal to bring the third entry to Western territories. Samsung's 'human centric' Galaxy S III launches around the globe, says what delays?

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2000 days, 5 hours, 38 minutes ago
Tuesday, May 29, 2012 8:28:03 AM GMT
Despite carrier and retailer indications of delays for certain editions of Samsung's new Galaxy S III, the company triumphantly announced its launch right on schedule tonight. Of course, here in the US we're sadly on the outside looking in at the launch action going on in 28 countries as a new day dawns for the 29th, but at least there's rumblings that our localized editions aren't far off. In July, its world tour is expected to have swung through 145 countries and 296 carriers. (more)

Super Meat Boy is coming to iOS, but creator Ed McMillen isn't throwing it up there without a jab at the current crop of mobile games. Slamming the free-to-play model employed by many titles, McMillen has attacked the kind of business model that treats consumers like farm animals. (more)

Google May Build Bandwidth Throttling Feature Into Android

Google's "bandwidth throttling" for mobile devices enables wireless carriers to set usage thresholds for data that is transferred during a certain timeframe and directly react with a bandwidth reduction. When the bandwidth cap is reached, the device can automatically limit the maximum bandwidth to a level that is permitted by the carrier. (more)

So enthused with the Galaxy S III that you want to know exactly when in the summer Americans can buy one? You can follow us, of course, but Samsung has you covered with a sign-up page that will take your vitals with promises that you'll "get the latest on the Next Galaxy." We wouldn't read too much into seeing AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and others in the list of carriers to choose from, though. Samsung has run identical sign-up campaigns in the US before, and it focused the initial Galaxy S II launch on t... (more)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2027 days, 7 hours, 56 minutes ago

Owners of the Galaxy Nexus for Verizon Wireless are now joining the proud ranks of Android 4.0.4 users. As a common practice, it seems the rollout is gradual, and many of the devices receiving the update appear to be the property of corporate stores. Nonetheless, the 39.8MB download carries a build number IMM76K and similarly brings an update to the baseband software -- which is reason to hope that the (resolved) connectivity issues reported by Android 4.0.4 users of the HSPA+ and Sprint variants will be...
