posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1926 days, 11 hours, 12 minutes ago
Tuesday, March 20, 2012 7:56:18 AM GMT
Sure Apple was being a bit cagey when it talked up its "record" iPad sales early today, but now the company's got something a bit more concrete, talking up the three million tablets that have been sold since it hit the market on Friday. The company's SVP Philip Schiller called the figure "the strongest iPad launch yet. (more)

iPad review (2012)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1929 days, 11 hours, 18 minutes ago
Saturday, March 17, 2012 7:50:53 AM GMT
What's in a name? Or, more importantly, what's in a digit? Would that which we call an iPad by any number less than 2 be less sweet? That's the question Apple posed for us indirectly when it unveiled the new iPad and relegated its future slates (and, presumably, phones) to a numeral-free future. And that new slate? It's much the same as the old one, with a slightly more chipper processor at its (quad) core and support for both Verizon and AT&T's fancy new LTE networks. (more)

Looking at the iPad's Retina Display Under a Microscope

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1929 days, 11 hours, 26 minutes ago
Saturday, March 17, 2012 7:42:36 AM GMT
Apple has talked a lot about the iPad 3's Retina Display. The company is even referring to the device as 'resolutionary' on it's homepage. We all know that the iPad 3 has a screen that measures 9.7-inchs and boasts 2048×1536 pixels and 264 ppi. And you don't need us to tell you that this is vastly superior to the display used on the iPads 1 and 2. Both the first and second iteration of the iPad used the same display -- a 9.7-inch 1024 × 768, 132 ppi display. What you probably don't know, is how these two (more)

MacGuffin's Curse is an adventure puzzler that promises comedy, addictive puzzles, and a compelling story. The name alone should give you a hint at the humor, and the puzzles are reminiscent of those found in Zelda-style dungeons. Without having completed the game, it's impossible to say how fulfilling the story is, but it does have a nice hook to keep you playing. (more)

iPad Mini May Hurt Android Tablet Vendors

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1936 days, 9 hours, 49 minutes ago

With Apple's new iPad 3 publicly out of the bag and set to invade store shelves next week, the tablet industry is now setting its sights on that mysterious 7.85-inch version reportedly heading to retail shelves in 3Q12. What we're betting is that it will be christened as an iPod Touch XL, but tablet manufacturers are still quivering in their boots nonetheless, fearing the fierce competition the device will bring. Apple name-drops Corning as iPhone glass manufacturer, we feign surprise

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1942 days, 11 hours, 3 minutes ago

For a company so focused on secrecy, Apple never really did all that good of a job keeping its connection with Corning under wraps. We've always suspected that the company enlisted the Gorilla Glass maker for the iPhone, though it didn't really go out of its way to admit it -- even going so far as omitting the New York-based company from its 2011 suppliers list. Microsoft Launches 'Smoked by Windows Phone' Campaign

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1950 days, 9 hours, 33 minutes ago
Saturday, February 25, 2012 9:35:13 AM GMT
If you can cast your mind back as far as CES in January, you might remember Microsoft's little Windows Phone marketing stunt that saw the company challenge smartphone owners to a little cell phone quick draw. The idea was to race two phones, one Windows Phone and the other not, and see which of them could perform a specific task the fastest. Microsoft was offering $100 to anyone who could beat a Windows Phone. The losers? They had to go on camera and admit that their phone "got smoked by a Windows Phone." (more)
