Steam has taken the ol' plasma cutter to the price of the Dead Space series, offering one monster of a deal. This weekend you can pick up -- using telekinesis, preferably -- the original Dead Space or Dead Space 2 for five bucks each. You can use the money you've saved for some fresh underpants. EA Games and Sports Illustrated have come together to create a rather unusual competition for the recently released Need for Speed: The Run demo. Chinese pirates help Unity expand

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2144 days, 17 hours, 37 minutes ago
Monday, October 03, 2011 6:14:52 AM GMT
I can't imagine ever seeing a general consensus when it comes to software piracy. Consumers, developers, publishers and the media all approach the situation from different angles and have different motivations and investments in the software. Unity Technologies, developers of the Unity game engine and editor, have added some more gray to the piracy canvass. John Goodale believes that China's culture of piracy allowed his company to make waves in the East. (more)

Here's the reason why Battlefield 3 is not on Steam

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2201 days, 3 hours, 7 minutes ago
Sunday, August 07, 2011 8:44:59 PM GMT
So a few weeks ago, news broke that EA wouldn't be selling Battlefield 3 on Steam, much to the chagrin of many PC gamers. At the time, there was no explanation given, however we've now got some info as to why EA won't be putting the upcoming FPS title on Valve's service -- and it seems to be related to Steam's patching and downloadable content policies again. EA is performing a cull of online components for a number of older titles, including entries in the Battlefield, Need for Speed and Medal of Honor series. The most tragic shutdown is, of course, Army of Two. The dedicated co-op community for that game is going to be devastated. (more)

DICE isn't making any modding tools for Battlefield 3

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2232 days, 13 hours, 28 minutes ago
Thursday, July 07, 2011 10:23:50 AM GMT
In an interview with GameStar, Electronic Arts senior VP Patrick Söderlund revealed that there aren't any plans to put out modding tools for Battlefield 3. Not entirely the stance I would've expected them to take. The reason? "If you look at the Frostbite engine, and how complex it is, it's going to be very difficult for people to mod the game, because of the nature of the set up of levels, of the destruction and all those things ... it's quite tricky. So we think it's going to be too big of a challenge... (more)
