This is a rumor we've heard many times before. With Sony Ericsson regularly associating its phones with other Sony products (the Walkman line for music phones, the Cybershot line for camera phones), it seems like it's only a matter of time before we see a gaming phone linked to the PSP. (more)

A lot of countries have a problem with Google's Street View project. The fuel for the fire was when Google admitted that it had accidentally gathered WiFi data back in May. Droid X Owners Consuming 5x as Much Data

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2555 days, 10 hours, 18 minutes ago
Saturday, July 24, 2010 8:19:00 PM GMT
Verizon is rumored to be moving away from unlimited data plans and towards a tiered system, and with more and more customers purchasing smartphones, it's easy to see why. The advent of smartphones for the masses has meant a significant number of people who previously wouldn't have required a data plan at all, are guzzling MBs thanks to data-intensive applications on their phones. Last month, Verizon's John Killian said things were expected to get even worse for wireless networks as new phones designed f... (more)

Android 2.2 (Froyo) versus iOS 4: the browser showdown (video)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2571 days, 22 hours, 34 minutes ago
Thursday, July 08, 2010 8:02:51 AM GMT
A little while back Google boldly claimed that Froyo would have the world's fastest mobile browser, but the lack of final software back then meant we'd had to tie up our itchy hands until now. And boy, it sure looks like it was worth the wait -- Ars Technica's JavaScript benchmarks show that not only is Froyo's browser almost three times faster than its Éclair counterpart, but it also beats iOS 4's Safari by at least two-fold. That said, numbers alone don't always reflect real-life performance -- especi... (more)

Samsung's Epic 4G for Sprint seems to live up to its name

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2580 days, 22 hours, 30 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 29, 2010 8:07:16 AM GMT
That rumored Galaxy S Pro is very real and very official for Sprint this evening, 'cept it's not actually called the Galaxy S Pro -- instead, it'll be known as the Epic 4G when it comes to market "in the coming months." Like the EVO 4G before it, the Epic 4G sort of blows everything out of the water on paper: 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 5 megapixel primary camera with LED flash and 720p video recording paired with a VGA front-facing cam for video calls, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, six-axis accelerometer, and a 1... Motorola Shadow slithers into Verizon's inventory database as MB810

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2610 days, 23 hours, 52 minutes ago
Sunday, May 30, 2010 6:44:38 AM GMT
If the whole "smoke -> fire" adage proves true once more, it's looking like Verizon loyalists can expect to see a Shadow at least a few milliseconds before a CDMA iPhone. Following up on months of leaks and rumors, we've got yet another snippet of evidence pointing towards a VZW release of the so-called Motorola Shadow. Spotted here in the carrier's inventory database, the MB810 moniker aligns perfectly with that WiFi certification we saw earlier in the month. Combine that with the fact that this is defi... (more)

Though we're not even a wee bit shocked to see a "usable" version of Froyo already available to owners of the G1 / Dream and Magic, we're definitely heartened to see that phones running 2008 specs can handily run a mid-2010 version of the platform. (more)

HTC EVO 4G review

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2620 days, 23 hours, 3 minutes ago
Thursday, May 20, 2010 7:34:03 AM GMT
As a mobile platform, the EVO 4G's Android foundation is still an infant -- well, okay, perhaps it's a tweener -- but in its two-odd years in the public spotlight, the list of truly revolutionary devices to use it has been a significant one: the G1 for being the first to market; the Nexus One for ushering in a new (and subsequently killed) retail model; perhaps the CLIQ for introducing Motorola to the platform or the Droid for bringing the company some desperately needed, long overdue success. For the mo... (more)
