Little League World Series Baseball 2010 trailer slides into home

While the world's attention is on soccer, Activision would like to remind us of America's national pastime. Specifically, the subset of our national pastime that is played by weird-looking cartoon characters on the Xbox 360 and PS3: Little League World Series Baseball 2010. (more)

Microsoft: Oh sorry, Project Milo ISN'T just a tech demo

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2578 days, 15 hours, 37 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 30, 2010 7:09:25 PM GMT
Contrary to what Aaron Greenberg has said, Lionhead has refuted the claim that Milo was a mere tech demo and won't be available for public consumption. On the contrary, there is currently a team of fifty people still working on the Milo & Kate project, and Aaron Greenberg himself backtracked on his "not coming to market" claims earlier today. (more)

Preview: Splatterhouse

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2578 days, 15 hours, 59 minutes ago

Most of the games games shown at E3 are not final retail versions; they're preview builds specifically developed to show at the industry's largest expo. Since this is the case, many developers will remind those playing its game or watching demos that what they're seeing is subject to change. "We still have to polish this," or "the animation over here isn't finished" are a few of the things you'll hear. It's expected. (more)

Rock Band 3's pitch correction provided by iZotope

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2578 days, 16 hours, 20 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 30, 2010 6:26:42 PM GMT
You won't need to swallow a little computer to sound robotically awesome in Rock Band 3. Audio signal processing company iZotope, Inc. has announced that it's providing pitch correction technology to the music game, as initially revealed to Joystiq in an interview with Harmonix. The game will use iZotope's real-time pitch detection and correction to make you sound less like yourself and more like someone who can hit a damn note occasionally. And for those of you who are already vocally gifted, the use o... (more)

Milo demo from last year not planned as a game

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2579 days, 10 hours, 48 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 29, 2010 11:58:25 PM GMT
Remember that really creepy demo of Kinect when it was first unveiled as Project Natal last year? I'm talking about the one with the kid who fished and made everyone watching him feel vaguely uncomfortable. At the time, we were under the impression that this was going to someday be a retail product. Not so, according to Aaron Greenberg. Australian TV program Good Game asked the Xbox boss about the Milo demo, where he stated that the demo still existed and had been refined but there were no plans to make... (more)

Watch the Portal 2 E3 demo and smile

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2579 days, 10 hours, 51 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 29, 2010 11:55:06 PM GMT
There are more than a few great things in this video (which covers the first part of our E3 single-player demo; six more parts are expected this week). The first is the introduction of a cheeky, British personality orb. He's cheeky, British, and we already love him. And GLaDOS. Oh, GLaDOS, how we have missed you. Anyway, just try to watch this video without smiling (or outright laughing). We dare you. Go ahead. You monsters. (more)

Formed in the mid-1980s, Reflections Interactive has been making games for longer than you might remember. While the studio has franchises like Shadow of the Beast and Destruction Derby under its belt, its longest standing franchise is Driver. This fall the wheelman returns in Driver: San Francisco, and Reflections -- now owned and operated by Ubisoft -- is once again steering the ride. (more)

Twisted Pixel helping with Turbine-developed console MMO

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2581 days, 2 hours, 57 minutes ago
Monday, June 28, 2010 7:49:29 AM GMT
More from Twisted Pixel already? The digitally prolific studio that brought us The Maw and 'Splosion Man (in the same year, no less) -- not to mention the still-in-development Comic Jumper -- has quietly announced "a contract with Turbine to help them build an awesome new MMO intended for consoles." Yep, for consoles. Unfortunately, the developer seems to be keeping mum on more details, saying, "If you want more than that, you'll have to take it up with Turbine, because we can't spill the beans on their... (more)

Kinect Tech Coming to HTPCs in 2011

Want the Kinect motion-sensing control but you're just not a fan of the Xbox 360? Here's a bit of good news: the company behind the technology used in Microsoft's upcoming peripheral--PrimeSense--has already signed deals to provide its technology inside Home Theater PCs slated to hit the market by the end of the year. But don't expect the actual Kinect device and its library of games ported to the PC--this will be an all-new, pre-installed system. (more)

Hydrophobia's 'Challenge Rooms' test powers slated for its sequel

What's tucked after the break may be considered spoiler-ish, so click on through if you're willing to take the plunge. (more)

Halo: The Fall of Reach comic adaptation coming from Marvel

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2585 days, 3 hours, 7 minutes ago
Thursday, June 24, 2010 7:39:03 AM GMT
Marvel and 343 Industries have announced a new comic adaptation of the novel Halo: The Fall of Reach (not to be confused with the upcoming re-issue of the novel itself). The comic will be written by Brian Reed, who's work has worked in both comics and games. The art will be drawn by Felix Ruiz. For those unfamiliar with The Fall of Reach, the book covers events that took place before the original Halo game, including the creation of the Spartan II project and its indoctrination of John 117, better known ... Windows 7 hits 150 million licenses: that's seven copies a second

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2585 days, 3 hours, 33 minutes ago
Thursday, June 24, 2010 7:13:21 AM GMT
If Steve Ballmer's still pumped eight months later, there's a good reason -- Windows 7 has reportedly sold its 150 millionth copy, just two months after crossing the 100 million mark. If you run the numbers -- and we have -- that translates to roughly seven licenses sold per second since launch, a very convenient number for Microsoft to tout in their marketing communications from here on out. Perhaps execs can celebrate with a nice Windows 7 Whopper, topped with a fresh .dll pickle. (more)

Preview: Mafia 2 (and Mafia 2 3D)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2588 days, 2 hours, 11 minutes ago
Monday, June 21, 2010 8:35:42 AM GMT
Mafia 2 feels, from the demo we played, like it could just as easily be called Grand Theft Auto: Godfather. If that's what you're looking for from the mob-o-rama sequel, then celebrate by throwing someone off a pier with cement shoes. It's actually pretty hard to note anything unexpected or different in the Mafia 2 demo. Almost everything you'd expect from a game that borrows heavily from the GTA IV template is there, both the good and the bad. (more)

Meet the cast of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Okay! So, forget everyone from those twenty-odd Castlevanias from the past three decades. Just crumple up that whole ludicrous timeline and throw it right in the garbage. Lords of Shadow is a reboot of the franchise, and with it comes a new Belmont, a new quest (his lost love!) and ... Patrick Stewart. (more)

Our hands-on preview of High Voltage Games' The Grinder brought about a fairly surreal statement on our part. A brief explanation: Players pick up a number of throwable secondary weapons, including your basic frag grenades, as well as weirder fare, such as baby dolls which monsters will swarm on when dropped. Of course, once we'd grabbed a number of these pickups, a completely logical question came to mind (more)

Well, that excitement is no longer exclusive to us -- we've embedded the premiere trailer after the break.
