Snoopy's Street Fair passes five million downloads

Capcom's mobile sub-brand, Beeline, announced today that Snoopy's Street Fair for iOS has surpassed five million downloads. The game follows the model established by Beeline's other mega-hit based on a beloved children's franchise: The Smurfs' Village. Zynga lowers 2012 outlook after reporting $22.8M loss for Q2

Despite experiencing stronger revenues in Q2 2012 than in Q2 2011, Zynga reported a $22.8 million net loss for the quarter and lowered its outlook for the rest of the year to adjust for "delays in launching new games, a faster decline in existing web games due in part to a more challenging environment on the Facebook web platform, and reduced expectations for Draw Something." Electronic Arts is smooshing its two Aussie mobile developers together to form one studio known as Firemonkeys. IronMonkey (Mass Effect Infiltrator, Dead Space) and Firemint (Flight Control, SPY mouse) combined now form "Australia's largest game development studio." Awkward. (more)

Mistwalker, the studio started by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, has launched its first game for iOS, Party Wave. No, it's not a game where you wave hello to friends as they walk in the door for your birthday party, nor does it involve coordinating a stadium full of people to move their arms up and down at the correct times. Party Wave is about surfing, one of Sakaguchi's passions. (more)

Art assets from Runic Games' Torchlight franchise bear more than a passing resemblance to those used in iOS MMO Armed Heroes Online, from Chinese developer Entertainment Game Labs ("EGLS"). And Runic Games head Travis Baldree is calling foul, taking to Twitter this week to say, "So, wow - this game is releasing on the app store. They wholesale stole most of the assets from Torchlight," and linking to the EGLS game website. (more)

Hello Games is preparing to bring its big-movie stuntman, Joe, to the small screen. Joe Danger Touch! is an entirely new game built specifically for iPhone and iPad. It doesn't use a virtual joystick. Instead, you swipe to make Joe pop a wheelie, flick to knock obstacles out of his way, tap to jump, and hold to crouch. (more)
