The most exciting item at first glance is the Power Grip for PS Vita, pictured above. It promises to triple battery life for Sony's upcoming handheld -- and considering what Nyko did for 3DS battery life, we're willing to look past the ugly appendages. Other Vita accessories include a speaker stand and an all-in-one case, charger and USB cable combo. (more)

Tokyo Game Show 2011 is officially on, as today's keynote -- delivered by Square Enix prez Yoichi Wada -- kicked things off. But despite Mr. Wada's position at the JRPG giant, he's here speaking as the chairman of the Computer Entertainment Software Association, which means he had some pretty high level content to get through in his speech. To be extra clear, his keynote is named, "The Nature of the Industry Revolution of Games," so, pretty high level stuff. (more)

Google celebrates Alexander Calder and spinning things with HTML5 doodle

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2133 days, 3 hours, 38 minutes ago
Sunday, July 24, 2011 9:22:47 AM GMT
How to honor the life's work of an artist who has been dead for more than a quarter-century? Why, an HTML5 doodle on the Google homepage, of course. The search giant paid homage to Alexander Calder, the celebrated inventor of the mobile sculpture with its first doodle created entirely in HTML5 canvas. Those using a laptop with an accelerometer and an updated browser can move the coded sculpture around with their curser. Ironically, we had some difficulty playing around with the image on our mobile devices. (more)

Carmack: Mobile Tech Surpassing Console in 2yrs

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2148 days, 42 minutes ago
Saturday, July 09, 2011 12:18:14 PM GMT
In a recent interview with id Software's John Carmack, IndustryGamers asked if mobile will eventually overtake traditional console gaming. He admitted that it's one of the hottest topics they frequently discuss internally, but he also pointed out that Apple's iOS and iPhone weren't even around when the group began work on its current FPS, RAGE. That in itself is a little disturbing to a developer which typically takes years and years to conjure up a single title. (more)
