PlayStation Phone prototype video reveals 3D benchmark results

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2445 days, 1 hour, 2 minutes ago
Friday, December 10, 2010 8:41:58 AM GMT
Given that the PlayStation Phone has yet to be officially announced -- though, ya know, come on -- you probably shouldn't look disappointed that Qualcomm's Neocore benchmark app only showed the phone averaging 24.4 frames per second. As Engadget points out, the hardware is likely not final and neither is that software. (more)

PlayStation Phone reportedly caught on (very clear) video

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2449 days, 22 hours, 11 minutes ago

Well, lookie what our amigos at Engadget have stumbled upon: a purported video of the Sony Ericsson ZEUS-Z1 "PlayStation Phone" being handled by a YouTube user by the alias of "xxmajstor." Whoever they are, they show the very PSP Go-esque phone off for upwards of two minutes, sliding it open to reveal the previously reported on game controls, including the "touch strip" that evidently sits in for dual analog sticks. Touchscreen phones get psuedo-buttons with Tactile Plus stickers

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2462 days, 2 hours, 12 minutes ago
Tuesday, November 23, 2010 7:31:09 AM GMT
It's difficult to execute a Hadouken -- or any special maneuver, for that matter -- on the iPhone version of Street Fighter IV without keeping a constant eye on the on-screen controls. It's a problem that many games on touchscreened smartphones suffer from; fortunately, it's a problem that can be solved with a little outside the box thinking. Why not just add some buttons to your phone using the reusable Tactile+Plus sticker set pictured above? (more)

The next update for the iPhone version of Street FIghter IV adds at least one new fighter: Sagat. One of the screenshots included with the update also shows Dee Jay, who, curiously, wasn't announced. Tiger uppercuts and MAXIMUM pants aren't the only new additions to the phone fighter, however: the update also adds a new feature that sounds like it's straight out of Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition. There aren't many options out there for the modern-day Napoleon on the go. When your skills revolve around conquering and dominating everything around you, there just aren't many ways to apply your practice while you're commuting to work or standing in line at the coffee shop, waiting for your half-caf double mocha frap. But now that EA has released Risk: The Official Game on the iPhone and iPod Touch, hopefully you can get some relief. (more)

Talking Windows Phone 7 with Shoot 1UP developer

I might be the only one excited about the prospects of Windows Phone 7. Sure, it's nothing like the current offerings of Apple and it's wunderfone, but it is a fresh and exciting new way of doing mobile computing. One of the major tricks up it's sleeve is the addition of full XBLA titles that will be incorporated into the Xbox Live family with full achievements and gaming on the go. Unfortunately, there really hasn't been that much news on what exactly people will be playing once they get this OS in thei... (more)

You weren't going to be that guy. Your friends could fall in line all they wanted, but you were going to be strong. You didn't need an iPad, after all, you had your iPhone! Besides, the thing can't even make calls, what's the point? But then, your friends started coming around, magically flipping through USA Today with a swipe of their fingers like news genies, and you cracked, guiltily sliding your last $500 bill across the Genius Bar and walking out of the Apple Store defeated, but one iPad richer.
