Hands on in Seattle with the Wii U Experience

Can you believe the Wii U is almost here? It seems so surreal somehow. The Wii U Experience, now making the rounds in the U.S., has been giving press and retail employees a chance to get their grubby mitts on the system before the holiday season starts up. I was lucky enough to score an invite and brought my trusty camera along to capture every (BLUE) moment! (more)

Paper Mario: Sticker Star sticks to the basics

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1898 days, 22 hours, 25 minutes ago
Saturday, September 08, 2012 9:18:50 AM GMT
The hardest thing about Paper Mario: Sticker Star is just remembering it's an RPG. Even in his cute little 2D-in-a-3D world form, Mario's running and jumping on enemies, an act so comfortable that you do it automatically whenever you see a Goomba or a Koopa Troopa walking by. Usually, that move results in a satisfying crunch and a coin or two, but in Sticker Star it sends you into a turn-based battle scene. (more)

Bethesda undecided on Wii U, cautious on next gen consoles

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1898 days, 22 hours, 50 minutes ago
Saturday, September 08, 2012 8:53:55 AM GMT
Though the WiiPad might seem like an excellent instrument for managing your inventory of cheese wheels and soul gems in Skyrim, Bethesda doesn't have plans for Nintendo's upcoming console just yet. Bethesda marketing VP Pete Hines says the studio's "approach has been to put our games out on all of the platforms that will support them," but that "so far the Wii hasn't fitted into that. Whether Wii U does down the road is TBD." (more)

NPD: Darksiders 2 sold 247K copies in August

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1898 days, 22 hours, 51 minutes ago
Saturday, September 08, 2012 8:53:10 AM GMT
Darksiders 2 brought Death to top of the NPD charts for the month of August, having launched on August 14 in North America. In close to two weeks – the cut-off for NPD's August period was August 25 – the Vigil Games sequel managed to move 247,000 copies at retail, GI.biz reports. This figure doesn't account for international sales or Steam, and is perhaps a muted victory in a month that saw software sales go down year-over-year. (more)

The eShop is a tad uninteresting this week, as you can either get SpeedX3D (eShop, $3.99) or Outdoors Unleashed: Africa 3D ($3.99). SpeedX 3D has been getting a decent wave of buzz from some 3DS owners across the net, but you should probably check out some reviews first. (more)

A beloved, longstanding mainstay of the Nintendo gaming scene may soon be another casualty in the war between print and digital. According to an Ars Technica source, Nintendo Power is no more. Staffers were allegedly told of the closure last week, and already have been moved to other Future Publishing publications (among them GamesRadar and MacLife). The fate of the year's remaining issues, and how Nintendo Power's 475,000 subscribers will be compensated, is currently unknown. (more)
