Prepare yourselves, for the popular show NCIS is coming to current generation consoles. Stern looking characters will investigate bodies with the utmost sternness, and other such things. If you can't tell I know next to nothing about NCIS, but the game's 4 cases will be written by the original writers, so at least somebody will know what's what. (more)

The sound and fury of BF3's Operation Guillotine (with first 360 footage)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2106 days, 21 hours, 27 minutes ago

The thing that never quite comes across in all of the footage EA and DICE have released is how likely Battlefield 3 is to get you kicked out of your apartment. Take this video, for example. It looks great. We're seeing the Frostbite 2 engine at night, for a change, and that light mortar? Awesome. And there are plenty of explosions in there, and gunshots, and yeah, they seem loud. But the videos just don't cover it. (more)

Perry's outfit is different than OnLive in that it's not a closed community accessed via a small app or dedicated console. Instead, Gaikai is a technology that streams high-quality gaming to any website -- including Facebook -- via an Internet browser. Eventually gamers will have the ability to purchase PC games from an online retailer and stream them to any Internet-connected device, including smartphones. (more)

Hard Reset's launch trailer doesn't have time for this

For how awesome the future has to be, we're not looking forward to the annoying parts of future-life: taking forever to download a weapon module; friendly AI terminal units "aiding" us; and, most importantly, all of the techno-spider things we'll have to shoot just to get to the bus stop. (more)

Square Enix head Yoichi Wada sees a gaming future in the clouds

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2109 days, 3 hours, 10 minutes ago
Thursday, September 15, 2011 3:47:02 AM GMT
Tokyo Game Show 2011 is officially on, as today's keynote -- delivered by Square Enix prez Yoichi Wada -- kicked things off. But despite Mr. Wada's position at the JRPG giant, he's here speaking as the chairman of the Computer Entertainment Software Association, which means he had some pretty high level content to get through in his speech. To be extra clear, his keynote is named, "The Nature of the Industry Revolution of Games," so, pretty high level stuff. (more)

By now, I'm sure many of you are already familiar with Torchlight, the inaugural opus of developer Runic Games. It was a class-based action RPG/dungeon-crawler that bears an uncanny resemblance to a hypothetical hybrid of Diablo and Gauntlet. (more)

Warhammer 40,000, the tabletop game in which sci-fi depictions of fantasy creatures battle it out in a grim, perpetually violent future, lends itself well to the world of videogames. In fact, one can be quite certain it's inspired a fair few. (more)

Previous news about Need For Speed: The Run has made a big deal about the fact you can get out of the car, but let's face it, being in the car will get you across the country much faster, and heck, it's just plain more fun. And when you're in a car, you could do a lot worse than a Porsche 911 Carrera S, which you can see in action in the video above. (more)

A screaming man and two dudes who look -- well, they look just like we'd imagine two guys standing next to a screaming man would look: uncomfortable. Then again, they're probably not surprised, as the loudmouth on the cover of FIFA Soccer 12 is just the latest in a string of scream-centric pieces of EA Sports cover art. (more)

Apple has revised its Reuse and Recycling Program and opened the gates to sheep from another shepherd's flock. The new rules are quite a departure from past protocol, which charged PC users 30 bones to recycle non-Apple computers and displays (more)

As many of our more tech-savvy readers surely know, this week saw the launch of AMD's latest salvo in the CPU wars -- the Fusion-based Llano APU line. Only the A6-3650 and the A8-3850 have been released so far, with the other chips slated for release later this year. The 3650 has a quad-core, 2.6 GHZ CPU and a Radeon HD 6530D GPU clocked at 443MHz. The 3850 is about $15 more and sports 2.9GHz CPU clock and an HD 6550D at 600MHz. At that range, Intel's main competitors are the I3-2105 and 2100. (more)

Here's the reason why Battlefield 3 is not on Steam

So a few weeks ago, news broke that EA wouldn't be selling Battlefield 3 on Steam, much to the chagrin of many PC gamers. At the time, there was no explanation given, however we've now got some info as to why EA won't be putting the upcoming FPS title on Valve's service -- and it seems to be related to Steam's patching and downloadable content policies again. Borderlands 2, starring Salvador the dwarf and a dump of new details

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2147 days, 10 hours, 13 minutes ago
Sunday, August 07, 2011 8:44:14 PM GMT
Borderlands 2 is bumpin' up the brutality with new details, courtesy of the latest issue of GameInformer. Co-op will remain four-player, but the enemy and NPC AI has been revved to support a more interactive environment, with friendlies offering dialogue and bandits carrying weapons unique to their class. Eridium, a new element, will serve as currency and a means of upgrading weapons and vehicles, we assume by duct-taping it to whichever item you wish to improve. (more)

Minecraft to begin (and possibly never end) with a beta on XBLA

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2147 days, 10 hours, 14 minutes ago
Sunday, August 07, 2011 8:43:41 PM GMT
Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson likes to take things slow -- crawl before you walk, beta for two years and gain mainstream popularity and 3 million users before you release the actual game, that sort of slow. It seems Minecraft's release on XBLA won't be any different, as it will begin with a beta, much like its PC papi. Notch said he wants to discern which aspects of the game are fun on console before its release, but he thinks the Kinect features will be an interesting part of Minecraft's port... (more)
