posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2383 days, 6 hours, 28 minutes ago
Friday, April 15, 2011 6:43:15 AM GMT
The tower defense genre recently got a nice boost in novelty with the release of Anomaly: Warzone Earth, which turned the genre on its head, and now we have Sanctum; a game that puts the player inside tower defense. Other than that both games involve towers though, they are really nothing alike. (more)

The current big thing is The Next Big Thing demo

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2383 days, 6 hours, 31 minutes ago

Since our first look at the kitschy, cartoony style of The Next Big Thing, we (like many of you, we'd bet) have been harboring a secret crush on Pendulo's upcoming adventure. Well, it's not really a secret, we'd tell you about it if you asked. We just don't get a lot of opportunities to bring it up. (more)

Get in the dick-killing mood with a free Bulletstorm soundtrack

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2383 days, 6 hours, 32 minutes ago
Friday, April 15, 2011 6:39:16 AM GMT
As a "thank you" to its fans, Epic has released the entire Bulletstorm soundtrack for free. Composed by Michal Cielecki and Krzysztof Wierzynkiewicz, the music is surprisingly devoid of the profuse, ridiculous profanity associated with Bulletstorm. That said, and you'll know this if you've played the game, it is the perfect music for scaring, killing or otherwise negatively affecting dicks. (more)

Western fantasy role-playing games have moved in different directions over the years. You have the European type of games like Two Worlds II, the Gothic series, and the original The Witcher. Games that tend to expect a lot of patience from the player while giving you a huge amount of things to do in an open, yet usually (or initially) buggy world. (more)

The post-launch support team at Bethesda and Obsidian is preparing to launch a fix for one of the biggest issues still facing Fallout: New Vegas. No, not its apocalyptic levels of irradiation -- the game-crashing bugs and other performance-wrecking snafus that pepper the game's ruined landscape. According to a recent post on Bethesda's blog, a patch targeting "optimizations and stability improvements" is currently in the certification process for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. (more)

BioWare reveals more info on The Old Republic class progression

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2387 days, 2 hours, 45 minutes ago
Monday, April 11, 2011 10:26:16 AM GMT
Jedi Knights don't just become Jedi Knights, you know -- if that were the case, The Empire Strikes Back would be way, way shorter. It takes tons of training for a Jedi (and every other class in The Old Republic, for that matter) to hone their abilities to a lightsaber-sharp point. Luckily for the MMO's potential players, BioWare has revealed a ton of information on how this progression will play out in-game. (more)

Blizzard releases three official StarCraft 2 mods

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2390 days, 4 hours, 46 minutes ago
Friday, April 08, 2011 8:24:45 AM GMT
Blizzard has finally released three of the four official StarCraft 2 mods it announced at BlizzCon last year -- though, the one that didn't make the cut might surprise you. Players can now download Aiur Chef, which might possibly be the world's first cooking/RTS title; Starjeweled, a gem-swapping puzzler with a few light strategy elements thrown in for good measure; and Left 2 Die, in which players build up their base and train units to defend it when hordes of infected Terran come to play at night. Rockstar's Dan Houser on transmedia and building L.A. Noire

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2392 days, 5 hours, 1 minute ago
Wednesday, April 06, 2011 8:09:57 AM GMT
The Hollywood Reported chatted with Rockstar's Dan Houser at the Tribeca Film Festival (where L.A. Noire is being shown off as an "interactive screening") and he said that, despite all of the attempts at solid transmedia properties recently, "no one has done it very successfully yet." The issue, in his opinion, is that companies are all too often going for money rather than what's right for the medium. "Too often, however," he said, "the aim appears to be to cash-in on the success of a particular game, b... (more)
