If you've ever played it, you know what I'm talking about -- Firemint's Flight Control for iPod/iPhone is awesome. The premise is simple, with players guiding aimless aircraft to their landing pad and runway destinations, careful not to cross paths or… boom! (more)

Sony Files for Steroscopic Multiplayer Patent

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2700 days, 6 hours, 45 minutes ago
Wednesday, July 21, 2010 6:46:17 AM GMT
Split-screen gaming is always kind of a hassle. No matter how big your TV is things are always just kind of cramped when it's split down the middle. And don't even get us started on how distracting it can be to constantly be seeing what your friend is doing out of the corner of your eye. Aiming to take the split-screen out of multi-player gaming, Sony has filed a patent that uses stereoscopic video and glasses to show players different images on the same display. (more)

Some new screenshots from the upcoming portable version of the Yakuza series have cropped up. Holy crap, are they gorgeous. There are standoffs, brawls and sketchy art stills in there. And there's a hostess too, which made me smile. (more)

A look at gaming's many revolutions

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2715 days, 5 hours, 7 minutes ago

Patriotism may not be my favorite thing ever, but I do love a good revolution. That's a big part of why I love the videogame industry. In television, movies and music, truly revolutionary moments are few and far between. In videogames, they hit every couple of years, if not sooner. No artistic medium that I know of has evolved this far, this quickly. Knowing that videogames are in a perpetual growth spurt makes scouring for gaming news every morning a daily exercise in excitement. (more)

Destructoid Discusses: 3D at E3 2010

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2726 days, 5 hours, 34 minutes ago
Friday, June 25, 2010 7:57:45 AM GMT
Maybe two-thirds of what we saw at E3 involved 3D technology. Hell, Sony even had us wearing 3D glasses at their press conference! There was 3D racing, 3D platforming, 3D shooting and even 3D portables with "3D" in the name. Following this year's also 3D-heavy Consumer Electronics Show, it seems that the gaming world is getting the goofy glasses, like it or not. (more)

Sony talks sh*t about 3DS technology

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2730 days, 4 hours, 50 minutes ago

So, Nintendo murdered everyone at E3, not just with its rather terrifying selection of awesome games, but with its stunning 3DS demonstration. If you haven't seen the thing in action, let me confirm that it's pretty amazing stuff. Sony boss Kaz Hirai hasn't seen the 3DS, but that didn't stop him chatting sh*t about the technology behind it. What the PS3 Needs to Compete with Kinect

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2736 days, 5 hours, 23 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 15, 2010 8:07:50 AM GMT
Project Natal is officially called Kinect, but we don’t really know more than we did before, with the exception of the launch title lineup. What we do know, however, that Microsoft is serious about Kinect (as strange as this thing sounds) and the Xbox 360 is moving closer to general entertainment than ever before. Sony should take the challenge seriously. The PS3 platform needs some adjustment and upgrades. (more)

E3 10: Early convention center impressions

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2738 days, 4 hours, 4 minutes ago
Sunday, June 13, 2010 9:27:35 AM GMT
By now you've probably seen some of the interesting bits of news to come from the LA Convention Center. A rather gruesome return to the roots of the Mortal Kombat franchise, as well as a peek at a promo poster for MvC3 chilling outside, these are just a taste of what is to come with next week's convention. But there's more! We've got a massive banner for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood rocking the broad front of the center, and Sony has the ballsy quote of "This changes everything" wrapping around the bui... (more)

MotorStorm: Apocalypse announced, racing to E3

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2740 days, 8 hours, 18 minutes ago
Friday, June 11, 2010 5:13:11 AM GMT
Sony's pre-E3 reveals continue with confirmation of MotorStorm: Apocalypse (a.k.a. "MotorStorm 3"). Confirming previously leaked details, Apocalypse takes the franchise to a new urban setting, with a focus on destruction -- not unlike the recently released Split/Second. Players will be (foolishly!) racing through a city in the middle of an earthquake, driving through collapsing buildings. (more)

Sony: The PSP Go Was Kind of An Experiment

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2741 days, 5 hours, 20 minutes ago
Thursday, June 10, 2010 8:11:43 AM GMT
Amid speculation that Sony will launch a PSP2 at E3 next week, MCVUK asked SCEE president and CEO Andrew House about the success and sales of the PSP Go. House replied that one of the reasons the PSP Go was launched was to see what customers really wanted and because of this, the success can't be measured in sales. (more)

Sony on its reason for so many pre-E3 reveals

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2742 days, 6 hours, 25 minutes ago

It seems that everyone is "blowing their load" before E3, and it's starting to get to me this week. Things that we thought were going to be announced next week are already out in the open. Hell, look at Sony. We already know a ton of what it has in store, including Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, inFamous 2, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, and maybe the rumored MotorStorm 3. And then there's the Move and all that jazz. (more)
