GoPro Wi-Fi BacPac and Remote Control Kit hands-on (video)

We're certainly not going to say no to more functionality for GoPro's rugged camera units. Here at CES's Digital Experience, we've got to get a glimpse at both the WiFi BacPac and Remote Control Kit. The WiFi Bacpac does what you'd expect it to do -- but with an extra twist. Alongside WiFi connectivity, it'll also play nice with both Android and iOS devices. The apps will display any captured content immediately, with a free-to-download app that will connect with the camera. (more)

EXOdesk hands-on

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 9:54:24 AM GMT
You've seen it shown off in poorly lit YouTube clips, now see in a poorly lit hands-on video from our favorite tech blog. The fine folks at ExoPC invited us up to their suite at the Trump hotel (which, by the way, smells exactly like you'd imagine Donald Trump does) to spend some quality time with their desktop extension. The core of the system is a 37-inch 10-point multitouch screen connected to a reasonably powerful laptop. But it's the software that's the real star. The tabletop computer is running th... (more)

Karotz hits the US, has a lot of catching up to do on Twitter, Facebook

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1994 days, 17 hours, 40 minutes ago
Tuesday, January 10, 2012 9:53:42 AM GMT
After a rather graphic trip to the FCC, we suspected that Nabaztag's more pronounceable, if largely aesthetically identical successor Karotz was slated for arrival here in the US any day now. The time has finally come. The WiFi-enabled lagomorph is now available on our shores, bringing with it boatload of friendly connectivity, including Facebook and Twitter integration and the ability to send messages, audio files and pokes directly to the rabbit. And if you really want to get your friends' attention fr... (more)

Sensics head-tracking 3D Smart goggles hands-on (video)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1994 days, 17 hours, 41 minutes ago

When we first caught wind of Sensic's head-tracking 3D Smart goggles a few days ago, we couldn't help but think of it as a Sony HMZ-T1 on Android-flavored steroids. We've just spent some time with the prototype here on the show floor playing a virtual demo that had us smashing buildings in a virtual world -- notably running entirely on the headset, thanks (in part) to its 1.2GHZ dual-core CPU. If you can't tell from the picture, the headset is absolutely massive. In-hand it's quiet hefty, but once it eng... (more)

Silent but deadly in Gotham City Impostors

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2044 days, 18 hours, 39 minutes ago

By now most of you have probably heard about Gotham City Impostors, a multiplayer only game that gives players the opportunity to dress up as famous Batman characters and run around in a TF2-style, class-based shooter. For those that haven't heard or people who are already interested, Lucas Myers has a quick gameplay video showing off a "ninja" load-out. It looks pretty solid, if you're into the whole shooter thing. (more)

How-to: use Google Music from anywhere (yes, outside of the United States)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2044 days, 19 hours, 34 minutes ago

Now that Google Music has finally clawed its way out of the realm of beta-ware, anybody in the US can sign up to play without an invitation. Of course, that leaves many folks out of the equation, so we thought it a good time to point out at least one other route to let you get involved in the service, no matter where you live. See, the rub seems to be that Google checks your IP address on your first attempt to log in, and accept its terms of use -- only the first time, and yeah, you're definitely going t... (more)

It's Easter in November! At least over at Android.com. The website's latest refresh brought us a whole lot of Ice Cream Sandwich, but the real treat's a bit of a hidden gem. Google's new site's packing an easter egg in the lower-left hand corner that has the little green robot doing the moonwalk, waving hello and juggling among other things. You can check it out in the video after the break, but the real fun awaits you at the source link below. (more)

Lytro camera hands-on (video)

You knew Lytro was up to something, but with its infinite focus light-field powered camera out of the bag, how does it actually stack up in real life? In a word: novel -- you certainly won't be tossing your regular camera for this shooter, at least not in its current incarnation. Still the concept of shoot now, ask focus questions later is revolutionary, so hop on past the break for our initial impressions. (more)

Boston Dynamics' BigDog is one of our favorite insane-level DARPA projects; a robotic pack-mule that can carry 400 pounds of kit for troops. At some point, the Massachusetts mechanics decided the bot would be far better if it was the size of a bull, or, you know, an SUV. (more)

Tetris played on 6-foot LED matrix, controlled by DDR mat

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2109 days, 18 hours, 16 minutes ago

Watching two people play Tetris against each other is only slightly more entertaining than watching your stoner friends duke it in marathon Tekken sessions (read: not entertaining at all). But, we gaurantee the video after the break is more interesting than it sounds. A trio of MIT students recreated the classic falling block game with six-foot tall arrays of LEDs (no cutesy Russia-inspired graphics here) and passed control duties off to a pair of Dance Dance Revolution mats. TGS: Off-screen footage of Soulcalibur V

It seems like all the major fighting franchises are making a revival in some form or way. One of the biggest in the fighting genre, Soulcalibur V, is on the way back too and I got to go hands-on with it.
