Saturday, March 17, 2012 7:42:36 AM GMT
Apple has talked a lot about the iPad 3's Retina Display. The company is even referring to the device as 'resolutionary' on it's homepage. We all know that the iPad 3 has a screen that measures 9.7-inchs and boasts 2048×1536 pixels and 264 ppi. And you don't need us to tell you that this is vastly superior to the display used on the iPads 1 and 2. Both the first and second iteration of the iPad used the same display -- a 9.7-inch 1024 × 768, 132 ppi display. What you probably don't know, is how these two (more)

The ten best bars in videogames

St. Patrick’s Day is this weekend, and, with that, comes a wonderful celebration of the patron saints and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. Oh, who am I kidding? It’s St. Patrick’s Day: an excuse to wear green, pinch people, and drink lots and lots of beer. (more)

Datura is one of those games that compels you to share your in-game experience with friends as if you're telling a grand story about some meaningful feat you accomplished. For me personally, it tends to be exploration-centric games like Fallout: New Vegas that evoke such a response (more)

Preview: Reinventing the MMO with The Secret World

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1929 days, 18 hours, 52 minutes ago
Friday, March 16, 2012 6:57:51 AM GMT
The MMO space has been steadily filling up since people realized just how much money Blizzard is actually making. Many have tried to break into that space, but most have failed. Funcom has a pretty consistent history of bringing solid titles to market -- nothing necessarily groundbreaking, but they work. (more)

Da New Guys: Day of the Jackass

"Great," I thought, "is this going to be some low brow, cash-in?" Actually, Da New Guys is almost entirely a one-man show developed by Chris Burton (aka Icebox Games). Is his vision enough to make the game stand out among more notable point-and-click adventures? (more)

FIFA Street review: When players collide

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1929 days, 18 hours, 53 minutes ago

There's no way FIFA Street could have merely been an additional mode in FIFA Soccer 12. The latter takes to the conventional styles of soccer, where setting up plays and well-timed crosses are the keys to victory. The former focuses on "the beautiful game," where one player juggles a ball around with blinding grace, tricking an opponent into moving one direction while taking the ball in the other. (more)

Review: Shoot Many Robots

Shoot Many Robots is the first solo title from Demiurge, a Massachusetts-based developer with nearly a decade of experience working on other people's games -- including big names like BioShock, Brothers in Arms, and Mass Effect. For the first game all their own, they opted to create a side-scrolling platform shooter stuffed to the gills with big guns, bad robots, and a lot of loot. (more)

Puzzle platformers are a bit of a staple of independent games.
