Futuristic Lenses Will Make Deus Ex Vision a Reality

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2012 days, 1 hour, 14 minutes ago
Tuesday, January 17, 2012 9:18:25 AM GMT
We've been here before: the dream of Deus Ex: Human Revolution-vision within reach of the consumer. Experimental contact lenses are awesome, but we're years away from practical demonstrations. So why not the next best thing, lightweight, unobtrusive glasses that provide almost the same experience and manage not to be bulky to the point of making their use impractical. That's what Vuzix's SMART Glasses Eyewear, Industrial Monocular Display, and Thermal and Tactical Monocular Display promise, and if the pr... (more)

Muno Yo Gabba Gabba Clock Guaranteed to Wake Your Kids

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2012 days, 1 hour, 16 minutes ago
Tuesday, January 17, 2012 9:17:00 AM GMT
Nyko is branching out from their usual array of video game accessories, adding tablets and smartphones to the mix. They had plenty of this on display at CES, including this delightfully silly Yo Gabba Gabba branded alarm clock called Muno Time, that can recharge - and access files from - your iPhone, iPad, DS or 3DS. It also moves around and dances. I was told other Yo Gabba Characters will be available other than Muno, who you see in this video, however which ones, and when, are not known at this time. ... The PlayStation Vita will launch in key Western markets in a little over a month and so far the high-tech handheld has had a rough start in Japan. Sony announced at CES that it had sold 500,000 units since its December 17 launch, but over 324,000 of those were sold in the first week. (more)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2013 days, 23 hours, 25 minutes ago

Physical and digital PC versions of Mass Effect 3 alike will require Electronic Arts' Origin, according to developer BioWare. In slightly less annoying news, unlimited game installs are allowed and access to the single-player campaign requires a one-time authorization rather than a constant Internet connection. (more)

Tips for securing your Xbox Live account

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2013 days, 23 hours, 26 minutes ago
Sunday, January 15, 2012 11:06:38 AM GMT
Lately, we've been hearing stories of an increasingly alarming Xbox Live hacking issue, and the lack of care and concern that Microsoft has exhibited in some cases. Sure, just being hacked is beyond inconvenient, but users also risk losing access to their accounts for extended periods and the horrible possibility of having to speak with Xbox support. Yikes. Minecraft hits 20 million registered users

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2013 days, 23 hours, 29 minutes ago

Mojang mastermind Notch has tweeted that Minecraft has reached the 20 million user milestone, and that if each user weighed 154 pounds, that Minecraft's total player base would equal 25 percent of the weight of the Great Pyramid of Giza. It's an interesting statistic, if somewhat of a stretch, only because it got us thinking about other ways to arbitrarily compartmentalize that sort of information. (more)

Most of us, in real life, must stay content with occasionally going 10 miles over the speed limit in our used 2004 Pontiac Sunfires. We'll never know the thrill of triple-digit speeds, or experience the bowel-shattering roar of an Italian V12 engine; the harsh reality of reality is precisely why games like Gran Turismo 5 exist. White Galaxy Nexus shows itself, plans an arctic vacation

We knew a snowed-out version of Samsung's Galaxy Nexus was on pace for a February release, and while we've still got a few weeks left, it looks as if one or two have slipped through the cracks. The fine folks over at HDBlog.it managed to get a hold of the prized possession, and for anyone who has managed to pass their eyes over the white Galaxy S II, there's not a lot to be shocked by. The bezel along the front remains black, but hey -- beggars can't be picky, right? Tap that source link for a gallery's ... (more)

The big features in UVO2 include automatic crash notification, incorporated road-side assistance, service reminders and a brace of new vehicle tracking and geo-fencing features to make sure your teens don't stray too far, go too fast or stay out too late. Partner all that with an updated iPhone app that keeps track of maintenance and includes a vehicle finder that uses AR to find your ride, and it's a comprehensive update.
