The Circle Pad Pro is expanding its leftward reach to include Kid Icarus: Uprising on the 3DS. Without the Circle Pad Pro, Uprising players will use the stylus to aim and rotate the camera (generally with their right hands) and the 3DS' built-in circle pad to move Pit on land. The Circle Pad Pro will allow left-handed players to aim with their dominant hand, while moving Pit with their right. (more)

PlayStation 3 sells 3.9 million units during the holidays (and other sales data)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2047 days, 16 hours, 38 minutes ago
Wednesday, January 11, 2012 9:29:03 AM GMT
This holiday season has been kind to Sony, the company revealed today, specifically the PlayStation line of gaming consoles. The PS3 was the front-runner for Sony's parade of prosperity, invading over 3.9 million homes during the company's unspecified "holiday sales season" worldwide. On paper, it's impressive, but not quite as much when compared to the competition -- the Xbox 360 managed to outperform the PS3, selling 10 million consoles since the last tally back in late October. Microvision PicoMagic touch interactive projector eyes-on

We're often resistant to pico-projectors purely because we've been there, you know? That's why this interactive kit from Microvision is so special. We took a quick look at the prototype of the forthcoming Touch Interactive projector, which senses the interruption pattern of its laser light (think: radar) in order to calculate where you're controlling the device. Hands-on with Verizon Novatel MiFi 4620L Jetpack (video)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2047 days, 16 hours, 42 minutes ago
Wednesday, January 11, 2012 9:25:40 AM GMT
We just got hands-on with one of Verizon's JetPacks, the Novatel MiFi 4620L. At about the same size and thickness as previous endeavors, the quad-band 4G LTE unit boasts a gimmicky OLED display that apparently makes interfacing with the unit easier. We weren't convinced, but we did like its removable 1500mAh battery, which can be swapped for a more potent (but not included) 3000mAh unit. Its final party trick is the ability to relay location coordinates over WiFi to up to 10 devices (like say a tablet) t... (more)

Vizio ultrawidescreen, Google TV and Cinema 3D HDTV hands-on

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2047 days, 16 hours, 42 minutes ago

After Vizio gave the world a preview of its PC and tablet plans it also announced plans for new HDTVs and a couple of set-top boxes, so we couldn't resist traveling back over to its Wynn-based lounge to view the beasts in their natural habitat. We won't make too much of it, but if you read last year's hands-on preview, unfortunately much of this is similar, as we mentioned when they were announced -- much of this tech was originally planned to ship in 2011. That said, while TBD is still the watchword whe... (more)

Razer's 'Project Fiona' Gaming Tablet Concept is Awesome

With smartphones and tablets becoming so popular, and more apps available than you can shake a stick at, mobile gaming is becoming an increasingly lucrative market. However, the problem is that most of the games being played on tablets and smartphones are of the casual variety. The mobile industry might have advanced to the point where we have quad-core phones and tablets, but hardcore PC gamers don't want to play Cut the Rope or Angry Birds. (more)

Unlike OnLive, Gaikai doesn't provide a gaming service that serves an all-you-can eat gaming buffet for a low monthly price. Gaikai also doesn't directly sell cloud-based games, but instead provides a platform for publishers and retailers to sell cloud-based titles directly to consumers. Users don't sign into Gaikai's platform, but rather demo and purchase streaming games straight from those third parties. (more)

Following retailers updating their online listings for Silent Hill HD Collection to reflect a March 6 release date, Konami has confirmed with Joystiq that the game has been delayed to next month. "We will be sending out definitive dates on all three Silent Hill games later this week," the company responded. It could just be my imagination, but it seems like these high-def re-releases are particularly prone to getting pushed back. At least we generally know what's in store; waiting slightly longer to pla... (more)
