Silent but deadly in Gotham City Impostors

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1948 days, 21 hours, 22 minutes ago
Monday, November 21, 2011 8:55:19 AM GMT
By now most of you have probably heard about Gotham City Impostors, a multiplayer only game that gives players the opportunity to dress up as famous Batman characters and run around in a TF2-style, class-based shooter. For those that haven't heard or people who are already interested, Lucas Myers has a quick gameplay video showing off a "ninja" load-out. It looks pretty solid, if you're into the whole shooter thing. (more)

Battlefield 3 didn't have the smoothest launch ever, with problems such as online passes not working straight out of the box, PC users finding ways to play Battlefield 3 on PC without the use of EA's Origin service and the fact that the flashlight was too bloody bright. (more)

Review: Anno 2070

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1948 days, 21 hours, 24 minutes ago
Monday, November 21, 2011 8:53:35 AM GMT
The popular Anno series has survived for over a decade now, each title being numbered in such a way that makes you wonder if they form some kind of sequence test. There is only so much you can do with wooden ships and colonial-era economies, and instead of going for an Anno 1805 or Anno 1299 the franchise has finally made the jump to the future. (more)

Review: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1948 days, 21 hours, 31 minutes ago
Monday, November 21, 2011 8:47:04 AM GMT
Instead, the console launched with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, a game that sent all the wrong messages to third parties on how to create a successful Wii game. Twilight Princess sometimes utilized the Wii Remote in cool ways (like pointer aiming) but also tacked on motion control in unnecessary ways (like sword swinging), giving the illusion of added functionality while adding little to the gameplay. The game looked great by GameCube-era standards but did nothing to exploit the increased powe... (more)

Android Malware Up 427 Percent Since July

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1948 days, 22 hours, 9 minutes ago
Monday, November 21, 2011 8:08:16 AM GMT
Google's Android OS has enjoyed huge amounts of success. Last week, we reported that the company had activated 200 million Android devices and was activating a further 250,000 every single day. However, it seems that those huge numbers come with another, and this one is a lot more sinister: According to Juniper Networks, Android malware has surged and is up more than 400 percent in the last few months alone. Watch Some Fangirls Rap About Windows Phone 7

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1948 days, 22 hours, 11 minutes ago

One of the best things about the internet is that it's never been easier to find someone who shares the same interests you do. While some might dub your undying passion for Xbox a little too intense, you're bound to find someone else with a 'Brandon Watson for Pres!' t-shirt online. In fact, you'll probably find that you don't even come close to the most die-hard fanboy around. For example: Would you perform and post a Windows Phone 7 rap to YouTube? (more)

Windows 8 Will Be Less Demanding of Update Restarts

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1948 days, 22 hours, 13 minutes ago
Monday, November 21, 2011 8:04:28 AM GMT
While it's nice that Windows 7 is so vigilant in keeping the computing world healthy with updates, power users prefer to handle it on their own. According to Microsoft's statistics, nearly 90 percent of Windows 7 users allow updates to install and restart the system automatically. 2.38 percent want to be notified before install; 3.44 percent want to be notified before download; and 4.88 percent have update checking disabled. Super Tiny Computer Puts Android on Your TV, Laptop

Early this year we got to see, through ARM-powered devices such as the Motorola Atrix, that it doesn't take even a netbook to run basic computing functions. At a live demonstration in New York City, FXI Technologies showed off the next evolution of that idea: an ARM-based computer on a USB stick without any of that extra smartphone or tablet baggage. No, you aren't "losing" that thing up top -- Walmart will indeed be bringing those limited edition blue Wiis to the US of A starting this Thursday, and better still, it'll be hawking 'em for just $99.96 apiece. If you'll recall, the powder blue variants of Nintendo's newest home console were previously reserved for other sections of the globe, but a new spot that just aired on CBS' broadcast of the Titans vs. Falcons has confirmed that it'll be on sale within a matter of days for those lucky enough to sn... How-to: use Google Music from anywhere (yes, outside of the United States)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1948 days, 22 hours, 17 minutes ago

Now that Google Music has finally clawed its way out of the realm of beta-ware, anybody in the US can sign up to play without an invitation. Of course, that leaves many folks out of the equation, so we thought it a good time to point out at least one other route to let you get involved in the service, no matter where you live. See, the rub seems to be that Google checks your IP address on your first attempt to log in, and accept its terms of use -- only the first time, and yeah, you're definitely going t... (more)

It's Easter in November! At least over at Android.com. The website's latest refresh brought us a whole lot of Ice Cream Sandwich, but the real treat's a bit of a hidden gem. Google's new site's packing an easter egg in the lower-left hand corner that has the little green robot doing the moonwalk, waving hello and juggling among other things. You can check it out in the video after the break, but the real fun awaits you at the source link below. (more)

PSN content removed from Amazon

After the PSN hack, we recommended buying PSN games straight from Amazon, or at least adding funds to your PSN "wallet" by buying codes there, to avoid getting your credit card involved with Sony's system. That's no longer our recommendation -- because the PSN games and codes are gone. (more)

European PSN releases for October 19: Rocketbirds, Okabu and The Run demo

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1981 days, 1 hour, 38 minutes ago

What level of adorability are you looking for in your European PSN purchase this week? A significant amount? We suggest Okabu -- it stars things called "cloud whales," which possess a cuteness unrivaled by just about everything else on the planet. Average cuteness? How about Rocketbirds? Sure, the fowl therein are all about soaring through the air and murdering each other, but ... c'mon, birds are cute, right? (more)

Saints Row: The Third and doughnuts for dinner

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 1981 days, 1 hour, 42 minutes ago

Saints Row: The Third is like a doughnut, and I'm trying to decide if that's a good thing. I mean, everybody loves doughnuts -- I know I do. They're fluffy, sometimes sticky and mostly made of sugar and butter, two of the best-tasting foods around. And a proper doughnut, maybe with a morning coffee or during a meeting break, can really hit the spot, giving you that extra burst of energy that you need. (more)

Battlefield multiplayer trailer and first look at Karkand

The fact that it's not already October 25 has sent me into a fit of rage. Battlefield 3's latest mutliplayer trailer has calmed me down a little, at least to the degree that exploding vehicles and warfare can calm a person. If it doesn't succeed in calming you down, then I suggest freezing yourself for a wee while. (more)
