TGS: Tekken Hybrid is looking good in 3D on the PS3

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2082 days, 22 hours, 14 minutes ago
Thursday, September 15, 2011 4:02:56 AM GMT
Namco had the Prologue demo playable and it was, well, it was Tekken. It's the Tekken you know and love, but with some tweaks here and there. Specifically, you can perform team tag attacks called Tag Assault. It's basically you and your tag team partner ganging up on your opponent for maximum damage. Every character can do team attacks, but specific teams will perform special moves (like say the two Kings ganging up will be better than a King and Law duo, for instance.) (more)

TGS: Off-screen footage of Soulcalibur V

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2082 days, 22 hours, 15 minutes ago
Thursday, September 15, 2011 4:02:14 AM GMT
It seems like all the major fighting franchises are making a revival in some form or way. One of the biggest in the fighting genre, Soulcalibur V, is on the way back too and I got to go hands-on with it. I really suck at fighting games, so here's some horrible shaky cam footage of me playing as Astaroth. I was doing good until the last match! (more)

Hard Reset's launch trailer doesn't have time for this

For how awesome the future has to be, we're not looking forward to the annoying parts of future-life: taking forever to download a weapon module; friendly AI terminal units "aiding" us; and, most importantly, all of the techno-spider things we'll have to shoot just to get to the bus stop. (more)

Diabolical Pitch gameplay demon-strated at TGS 2011

We haven't had our own hands-on with Grasshopper's upcoming Kinect throw-em-up Diabolical Pitch just yet, but that didn't stop us from grabbing some shaky-cam footage of the first trailer and that of someone giving the game a whirl at the developer's pre-TGS shindig. (more)

Square Enix head Yoichi Wada sees a gaming future in the clouds

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2082 days, 22 hours, 30 minutes ago
Thursday, September 15, 2011 3:47:02 AM GMT
Tokyo Game Show 2011 is officially on, as today's keynote -- delivered by Square Enix prez Yoichi Wada -- kicked things off. But despite Mr. Wada's position at the JRPG giant, he's here speaking as the chairman of the Computer Entertainment Software Association, which means he had some pretty high level content to get through in his speech. To be extra clear, his keynote is named, "The Nature of the Industry Revolution of Games," so, pretty high level stuff. (more)

Windows 8 Even More Resource Efficient Than Windows 7

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2082 days, 22 hours, 32 minutes ago
Thursday, September 15, 2011 3:44:25 AM GMT
Usually a new version of Windows demands higher system requirements than the one before it. This wasn't the case with Windows 7, and it looks like it also won't be the case for Windows 8. Microsoft yesterday demonstrated on stage at the Build event Windows 8 running on a three-year-old Lenovo S10 netbook, which packed an early model of the Intel Atom CPU and 1GB of RAM. Not only did it run Windows 8, but it ran it better than it could Windows 7. (more)

Chrome Tops 25% Market Share for the First Time

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2082 days, 22 hours, 36 minutes ago

Since Chrome's market share is higher on weekends than during the week, it is unlikely that it will be averaging 25 percent for the entire month. However, the market share for first 12 days of September is 23.72 percent, up from 23.16 percent in August, which indicates that Chrome could surpass 24 percent this month. (more)

NASA's Space Launch System to rocket into deep space, unravel the universe's mysteries (video)

The folks in charge of our final frontier have just taken the wraps off their latest rocket design, dubbed the Space Launch System. Unimaginative moniker aside, NASA's prepping the SLS to take future astronauts aboard its Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle beyond Low Earth Orbit, and out into the vast reaches of our solar system. The launcher's design, as shown off in the agency's video render, was chosen specifically for its flexibile architecture, allowing engineers to adapt and evolve its build based on... (more)

Giinii AudioBulb hands, eyes and ears-on

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2082 days, 22 hours, 49 minutes ago
Thursday, September 15, 2011 3:27:36 AM GMT
Alright, so check this out -- that thing above is both a 5W LED light bulb and a 10W wireless speaker. Around the edge is a ring of glowing diodes with a four-stage dimmer, while the center is a 2.25-inch driver that speaks to a dock via 2.4GHz wireless. The AudioBulb from GiiNii is a fairly unique way to kick out the jams anywhere in your abode and they disappear into practically any lamp. A basic setup of two bulbs, a dock and a remote will set you back a surprisingly steep $299, but you can add on up ... (more)

LG Marquee for Sprint hands-on (video)

Sprint shone some light on the latest mystery handset from LG earlier today -- and what a bright light it is indeed. The Marquee's four-inch NOVA display is one of the brightest on the market -- it's a sort "we can't technically say it's the brightest, but it's certainly up there" situation. Screen aside, this is a slick and skinny Gingerbread handset. (more)

Review: The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2088 days, 18 hours, 1 minute ago
Friday, September 09, 2011 8:15:40 AM GMT
Two of the finest PlayStation 2 titles I know of were created by the same team. Both Shadow of the Colossus and Ico were crafted by the creative minds at Team Ico, a group that is slow to release games, but makes masterpieces each time. I hold both in such high regard that I've been known to force people to play them. One friend of mine in particular came to my city for a short visit not too long ago. I insisted that he play Shadow of the Colossus, and I monitored his progress throughout, clearly stating... (more)

Warhammer 40,000, the tabletop game in which sci-fi depictions of fantasy creatures battle it out in a grim, perpetually violent future, lends itself well to the world of videogames. In fact, one can be quite certain it's inspired a fair few. (more)

Previous news about Need For Speed: The Run has made a big deal about the fact you can get out of the car, but let's face it, being in the car will get you across the country much faster, and heck, it's just plain more fun. And when you're in a car, you could do a lot worse than a Porsche 911 Carrera S, which you can see in action in the video above. (more)
