We know, we know -- you're anxiously awaiting the public launch of iTunes Match, but what if you're one of those people? You know, the crowd that dips their toes into both Google and Apple offerings. It's clearly not as blasphemous as you may have been led to believe, as the fine folks in Google's mobile department have just produced an iOS-specific web app for Google Music Beta. For those who've forgotten, Music Beta was launched a few months back at Google I/O, giving audio archivists the chance to upl... (more)

Yesterday was the big day for Sony's 4K projector (still no exact price, but reps mentioned it would be sub $25k -- we know you can afford that) and the US debut of its funky 3D helmet, but now that the CEDIA show floor is open we stopped by its booth and got our hands on a couple of other treats. In one corner we've got its Google TV hardware, updated with a near-release upgrade to Honeycomb and showing off some highlighted apps picked by Google (more)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2142 days, 3 hours, 26 minutes ago
Friday, September 09, 2011 7:15:28 AM GMT
It's saving most of the details for the Frankfurt Motor Show next week, but GM subsidiary Opel has now offered up the first glimpse of its all-electric One Euro Car, which seems bound to turn a few heads on the show floor. The car's name comes from the company's promise that the it will consume just one Euro's worth of energy (or about $1.40) for every 100 kilometers, though there's no indication of a price for the car itself other than that it'd be "affordable" -- if it ever goes into production, that i... VIDEO: Nike to Unveil Back to the Future Shoes Tonight

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2142 days, 3 hours, 39 minutes ago

This time last year, word got out that Nike had patented self-tying shoes. Naturally, the appropriate Back to the Future references were made. However, unlike some patents that are filed just for the sake of it, it seems Nike is deadly serious about producing a pair of self-tying shoes. And the company's targeting nostalgic Back to the Future fans with a teaser video that show said shoes. (more)

The end of the NFL lockout in late July kicked off the league's usual flurry of offseason personnel moves (trades, signings, etc.), except this time, the lockout caused the free-agency period to be compressed into the space of a few weeks. Come September, many familiar faces will be suiting up in new places, including cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha (formerly of the Oakland Raiders, now of the Philadelphia Eagles) (more)

Then again, they're probably not surprised, as the loudmouth on the cover of FIFA Soccer 12 is just the latest in a string of scream-centric pieces of EA Sports cover art. (more)

Watch out Farmville, Kno's bringing Textbooks to Facebook

Now this is clever. Adorable education / tech company Kno may not have had the best start in life, what with its large (and largely unsuccessful) dual-screen tablet and the subsequent sell-off of its hardware division. Since those dark days, Kno has reinvented itself as a software company, bringing an educational e-book store to the iPad and now opening up the market by going for the big one: any student with a Facebook account. You've heard of the Special Victims Unit, but what about the Social Networking Unit? The time has come for criminals dumb enough to boast about their exploits on Facebook and Twitter to pay the proverbial piper. According to NY Daily News, the Big Apple's newly minted Assistant Commissioner, Kevin O'Connor, will enlist the department's juvenile justice unit to hunt down ne'er-do-wells on various social networking sites. So remember, even if your friends don't care about the Cookie Puss you just posted to... (more)

T-Mobile to begin charging overage on its 200MB plans on August 14th?

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2171 days, 34 minutes ago
Thursday, August 11, 2011 10:07:33 AM GMT
Say it isn't so! T-Mobile, flooded by larger-than-expected demand on data, may be just a matter of days away from making a polarizing change to its 200MB internet plans. As the feature currently stands, going over your limit results in a throttling of broadband speeds, forcing your browser to surf and download at a ridiculously slow pace. The rumored adjustment to the plan, however, would take away the option completely and replace it with usage charges. (more)
