Yes, "kick the ass out of the world" is a real thing that Bodycount art director Max Cant has said, and I love it. In part two of the developer diaries for the upcoming shooter, the staff delves into what makes their game world stand out, chiefly, it is both colorful and highly destructible. (more)

A baby monkey riding a pig backwards on your iPhone

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2119 days, 17 hours, 21 minutes ago
Tuesday, August 09, 2011 8:57:07 AM GMT
Just this weekend, I discovered a baby monkey song that seemingly became very popular on YouTube within the last year. In a spectacular display of how out of touch I am, I learned this information from a press release about a game based on the adorable monkey who befriended a pig and stole the heart of millions when a song was written about it. This is the same song that I now cannot get out of my head. (more)

Tripwire Interactive has announced a delay for its upcoming World War 2-themed first person shooter sequel Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad. The game, which is a sequel to a title that was originally based on an Unreal Tournament mod, was set to come out at the end of this month, but will instead arrive on September 13. Tripwire says it's using the extra two weeks to "get it right and add the extra polish the game (and the players) deserve." (more)

Meet Durga, Anarchy Reigns' revolver-legged tiger man

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2119 days, 17 hours, 28 minutes ago
Tuesday, August 09, 2011 8:49:58 AM GMT
In an effort to avoid being confused with Durga the Hutt, or Durga, The Invincible One Who Can Redeem In Situations Of Utmost Distress, Anarchy Reigns' latest character distinguishes himself through his stylish tiger-themed wardrobe, his platinum blonde kitty-cat haircut, and also by having a claw-footed revolver-cannon for a leg. Overall, the effect is subtle, and we think it compliments the title's understated visual style. (more)

The next iPhone game from Cave isn't a shmup, nor is it a music/dating game. It's kind of a strategy game, actually. In Castle Creator, you build a castle and the town around it, and then battle with other players' towns. Originally released in Japan on the GREE network, it's now headed to iPhone. (more)

The lack of a universal standard for active shutter 3D glasses became painfully clear during our 3D TV shootout last year, and gave plenty of reasons for buyers to skip the pricey specs altogether. Nine months later we see that LG has jumped onto passive 3D and CEA is playing (more)

Last time we saw Light Blue Optics' Light Touch, it was deep in the bowels of CES, where we got to play with its touch-sensitive projections. Well, the little laser pico projector has finally made its way from that dark trade show corner into the bright lights of the FCC. It still turns any flat area into a WVGA touchscreen using holographic laser projection (HLP) and infrared sensors, only now it's more finger friendly and supports multi-touch gestures (more)

As many of our more tech-savvy readers surely know, this week saw the launch of AMD's latest salvo in the CPU wars -- the Fusion-based Llano APU line. Only the A6-3650 and the A8-3850 have been released so far, with the other chips slated for release later this year. The 3650 has a quad-core, 2.6 GHZ CPU and a Radeon HD 6530D GPU clocked at 443MHz. The 3850 is about $15 more and sports 2.9GHz CPU clock and an HD 6550D at 600MHz. At that range, Intel's main competitors are the I3-2105 and 2100. (more)

Here's the reason why Battlefield 3 is not on Steam

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2121 days, 5 hours, 33 minutes ago

So a few weeks ago, news broke that EA wouldn't be selling Battlefield 3 on Steam, much to the chagrin of many PC gamers. At the time, there was no explanation given, however we've now got some info as to why EA won't be putting the upcoming FPS title on Valve's service -- and it seems to be related to Steam's patching and downloadable content policies again. Borderlands 2, starring Salvador the dwarf and a dump of new details

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2121 days, 5 hours, 34 minutes ago

Borderlands 2 is bumpin' up the brutality with new details, courtesy of the latest issue of GameInformer. Co-op will remain four-player, but the enemy and NPC AI has been revved to support a more interactive environment, with friendlies offering dialogue and bandits carrying weapons unique to their class. Eridium, a new element, will serve as currency and a means of upgrading weapons and vehicles, we assume by duct-taping it to whichever item you wish to improve. (more)

Minecraft to begin (and possibly never end) with a beta on XBLA

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2121 days, 5 hours, 34 minutes ago
Sunday, August 07, 2011 8:43:41 PM GMT
Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson likes to take things slow -- crawl before you walk, beta for two years and gain mainstream popularity and 3 million users before you release the actual game, that sort of slow. It seems Minecraft's release on XBLA won't be any different, as it will begin with a beta, much like its PC papi. Notch said he wants to discern which aspects of the game are fun on console before its release, but he thinks the Kinect features will be an interesting part of Minecraft's port... (more)
