Not too long ago, Sony detailed its protection program for PSN and Qriocity users affected by the April 19 breach that saw the personal data of 77 million users stolen. The company announced that it would be covering the cost of 12 months of Debix’s AllClear ID PLUS identity protection program for every PSN and Qriocity user in the United States. This week, the company started the process of assigning users activation codes for the program. (more)

Tesla Roadster 2.5 gets 119 MPGe rating from EPA, still as expensive as ever (updated)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2187 days, 11 hours, 24 minutes ago

Move over, Nissan, because there's a new MPGe king in town. Yesterday, the EPA anointed Tesla scored its Roadster 2.5 with an MPGe rating of 119, which would make it the most fuel-efficient car on the market. That places the plug-in ahead of both the Nissan Leaf (99 MPGe) and Chevy Volt (93 MPGe). According to the government-approved mock-up window sticker, Tesla's EV can last for up to 245 miles on a single, eight-hour charge, while getting the equivalent of 112 miles per gallon on the highway and 124 i... Just this morning we reported on the rather jovial atmosphere at Google's big mobile payment announcement -- well, it looks like PayPal's prepared to bring an end to the celebration. According to Bloomberg, PayPal filed a suit against Google today in a California Superior Court, alleging that former PayPal executive, and one of this morning's MCs, Osama Bedier misappropriated the company's trade secrets. Sony's E3 site goes online, has space for nine titles

That said, we can be reasonably sure that at least nine games will be shown during the event, due to the spaces in the top right corner. Some of them have already been filled -- Ratchet & Clank (All 4 One), Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, Twisted Metal and inFAMOUS 2. That leaves four fresh announcements. (more)

Review: Dead or Alive Dimensions

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2188 days, 12 hours, 40 minutes ago

The Dead or Alive series has never quite made it to the top tier of world-favorite fighting games. Despite having a large, dedicated fanbase, it's always hovered somewhere below Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken, though well above other great, lesser-appreciated series like Darkstalkers, Fatal Fury, and Guilty Gear, in terms of sheer popularity. I love racing games, but my favorite kind are the ones that take you off the road and into the elements. Rally racing has always been my preference. Actually (cue harps and clouds), my money-no-object dream is to actually rally race across Africa. I'd probably roll and kill myself, though. For now, videogames will have to do the trick. DiRT 3 certainly does the trick. (more)

Reminder: Final round of BlizzCon 2011 tickets on sale tonight

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2188 days, 12 hours, 41 minutes ago
Thursday, May 26, 2011 6:45:25 AM GMT
The second round of BlizzCon 2011 tickets are going on sale this evening in just a few hours at 10pm EDT / 7pm PDT. The first round went down last Saturday morning as planned, and tickets sold out in just a matter of minutes (technically, the queue for ticket sales was filled in less than a second). This demand is extra surprising, especially considering that ticket prices to the annual Irvine, CA-based fan convention went up this year to $175 a piece. (more)

Though not nearly as radical as Greece's Deku Nut-packed bundle, Australia's getting its own special edition of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Shedding the legumes and baseball cap of its Grecian counterpart, the Australian Ocarina Bundle -- available exclusively as a pre-order bonus from EB Games -- includes an Ocarina, some sheet music to help you play some of OoT's transportative jingles and a large box with which to contain said instrument and tabulature. Carmack: Cloud Significant Part of Landscape

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2188 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes ago
Thursday, May 26, 2011 6:42:35 AM GMT
In a recent interview with IndustryGamers, id Software's John Carmack said that cloud gaming will eventually be a significant part of the landscape. Why? Because ultimately convenience always wins out with consumers, even if it means the overall quality is taken down a few notches. Look at how much easier it is to load up FarmVille – it doesn't require installation or a hefty set of system specs, yet has seemingly breathed new life back into PC gaming. (more)

Survey: 9 Percent Ditched PSN to Switch to XBL

The April breach of Sony’s PlayStation, Qriocity and SOE networks angered a lot of customers. Many felt that a company with so many millions of users should have had better security in place, and taken more care in protecting the information of its customers. Some even declared they would be trading in their PS3s because they could no longer trust Sony. So just how many have quit PSN cold turkey? (more)

Sony Music Japan and Sony Ericsson Get Hacked

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2188 days, 12 hours, 47 minutes ago
Thursday, May 26, 2011 6:39:42 AM GMT
On Friday, Sony BMG Greece was hacked and the details of more than 8,000 users stolen. This week, Sony Music Japan and Sony Ericsson were the targets. In the attack against Sony’s Greek website, hackers supposedly used an automated SQL injection tool to find a flaw and obtain user information. Though that event took play on May 5, it seems Sony Music Japan has fallen victim to a similar attack. (more)

Pioneer AppRadio hands-on (updated with video!)

We got a chance to experience Pioneer's iOS-connected in-dash AppRadio in action this afternoon, and even got to see the thing running in a real-deal automobile. So did it meet our expectations? Well, to be perfectly honest, we didn't know what to expect, but for what it promises, which is bringing the convenience and connectivity of iOS apps to your car, we suppose it does a fine job -- even if it only supports a handful apps at the moment. More after the break. (more)
