We were shocked by the things YouTube user Schrobotindisguise was able to accomplish in Portal 2 with nothing more than a cube and a steady aim -- again, we feel like the worst Portal players ever. Further evidence of his unparalleled cube skills can be seen in the video just past the break. (more)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2295 days, 10 hours, 17 minutes ago

What's the first thing you do after installing the world's largest HD screen, a 16,000-square-foot ocular wonder? Play video games on it! The Charlotte Motor Speedway recently celebrated the installation of a big ol' Panasonic TV by inviting NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. to take a couple of virtual laps on the thing in iRacing (not our first choice, but an apt one, we suppose). Angry Birds Comes to Chrome

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2295 days, 10 hours, 27 minutes ago
Thursday, May 12, 2011 8:50:56 AM GMT
As it is built on general HTML5 technologies, the application (chrome.angrybirds.com) is a simple web service and runs in any modern web browser that supports the new web technologies. However, users will need Firefox 4 or Chrome to run it in WebGL as IE9 does not support this technology and reverts to hardware accelerated Canvas 2D. Firefox 3.6 can only run the app in standard definition, while all other browsers run it in high-def. (more)

Think your body's a temple? Turns out it's actually just the antenna the temple's staff uses to watch football when they're done praying. A group of engineers from Microsoft Research showcased a technology at Vancouver's Conference on Human Factors in Computing that offers gesture-based control on a scale that could make the company's Kinect controller downright laughable. Keepin' it real fake: a Nintendo DS Lite that gets it (mostly) DS right

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2295 days, 10 hours, 33 minutes ago

The death of Nintendo's DS Lite getting you down? Good news: it may have long ago been eclipsed by the DSi and 3DS, but the svelte portable system is still being made -- by someone, somewhere. And you can get a pretty good price on the thing, if you don't mind a few flaws -- like the above bootleg picked up a 1UP editor who though he was getting the real deal from eBay. (more)

Downloadable content is central to THQ's strategy for the (initially) budget-priced MX vs. ATV Alive. So it should come as no surprise that THQ is seeking DLC opportunities even outside of the game. A bunch of Xbox 360 Avatar items based on the off-road racer are available through the Marketplace now, in advance of the May 10 release of the game. So you can start buying DLC even before you get it! (more)

Sony in 'Final Stages of Testing' for PSN

Sony’s PSN and Qriocity services were switched off on the evening of April 20 and have remained off since then. Following a serious breach of its networks, Sony told users that the reason it was taking so long to switch PSN and Qriocity services back on was because the company needed to re-build its system to further strengthen its network infrastructure. Late last night, Sony posted an update on the security team’s progress with the new system. (more)
