Samsung Infuse 4G hands-on (updated)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2246 days, 6 hours, 44 minutes ago
Friday, May 06, 2011 9:04:32 AM GMT
We've seen it powered down and had it dangled in front of us and now, four months after its launch, we've finally had a chance to play with a real, working Samsung Infuse 4G. This 4.5-inch superphone -- the biggest Sammy has made to date -- feels surprisingly light in the hands, despite its width. That's largely thanks to its crazy-thin 8.99mm profile, along with a subtly textured backside. The Super AMOLED Plus display -- the same kind found on the smaller Droid Charge -- which promises to be brighter t... (more)

Sprint / Google Voice integration has major issues, major lack of support

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2246 days, 6 hours, 44 minutes ago
Friday, May 06, 2011 9:03:46 AM GMT
Have you tried Sprint's new Google Voice integration? We know a lot of our readers have -- and many of them have had problems, writing in to us to express their displeasure. We started investigating and found a hoard of complaints, and the deeper we looked, the more issues we found. To make matters worse, Sprint has instructed its representatives to refer all Google Voice-related questions to the Google Voice Forum, which for reasons that frustrate us as much as you, Google itself seems to have forgotten... Sony offers free Debix identify theft protection for PSN and Qriocity hack victims in US

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2246 days, 6 hours, 45 minutes ago
Friday, May 06, 2011 9:03:01 AM GMT
Sony's "Welcome Back" package of free software and PlayStation Plus subscriptions was a nice gesture, but it won't help you if your credit card gets fraudulently charged in the aftermath of the PlayStation Network debacle. That, however, is exactly what Debix is for. Sony's announced that it will provide a complimentary one-year subscription to Debix's "AllClear ID Plus" identity theft protection service to all PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders in the United States, which will attempt to p... Latest SSX dev diary talks updating characters

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2251 days, 9 hours, 11 minutes ago

Another wild SSX developer diary appears, complete with wingsuits and everything. This time, the developers discuss how they take beloved characters and bring them up to date. And yeah, they're still focusing on Elise. Honestly, I'm just going to nod my head pleasantly here until we see more (as in, something) on Psymon. Dude is crazy, y'know? (more)

Did you catch yesterday's secret in Cave Story WiiWare?

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2251 days, 9 hours, 12 minutes ago
Sunday, May 01, 2011 6:36:22 AM GMT
I'm guessing the answer is "no", because I've been scouring the internet all morning for some source or report on this. Sadly, I can't find anything. All I have to go on is an email I got from Tyrone Rodriguez from Nicalis (publisher of Cave Story on WiiWare/DSiWare, and co developer of Cave Story 3D) stating that 04/29 is the birthday of Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya (creator of Cave Story), and that something special happens if you boot up the game on that day (but only if you downloaded the patch for the game... Red 5 Studios has released a new trailer for its upcoming free-to-play FPS, FireFall. The video shows off the various classes, or rather the classes of "frames" with which players can outfit their avatar. Try not to worry about the technicalities and focus on the jet packs and ice bullets. (more)

Check out the video after the jump to see some truly impressive cube throws, by way of YouTube user Schrobotindisguise. (more)

The list of organizations Sony's going to be answering to about the PlayStation Network security breach is growing with alarming speed. The latest addition to the horde is the United States House of Representatives Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade, which sent a letter to executive deputy president Kazuo Hirai yesterday with a number of inquiries about the nature of the breach, as well as the company's response to its consumers' collective exposure. App review: Seamless for iOS and Mac (video)

Sunday, May 01, 2011 6:23:27 AM GMT
If you're the kind of person who's always listening to music and wouldn't be caught dead headphone-less, pause that song for a quick second and check out Seamless. This lightweight app links your iPhone's Music player to iTunes on your Mac in a pretty clever -- not to mention Cupertino-esque -- fashion. The whole crux of it is the "transition," which simultaneously fades out a song on one end while bringing it to full blast on the other. All it takes to get started is a quick $1.99 download for your i-de... (more)

Shocker! Microsoft commands 79 percent of worldwide OS revenue (update)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2251 days, 9 hours, 28 minutes ago
Sunday, May 01, 2011 6:20:32 AM GMT
Everyone knows that Windows is installed on the vast majority of computers, but it's always interesting to be reminded of what a cash cow the OS has been for Redmond. According to Gartner, Microsoft owned 78.6 percent of the global market revenue share for desktop operating systems at the end of 2010 -- revenue up almost 9 percent from 2009. That means, of the $30.4 billion in revenue that various companies generated, $23.8 billion lined Microsoft's coffers (more)

Capcom producer wants God Hand, Okami sequels

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2254 days, 6 hours, 11 minutes ago
Thursday, April 28, 2011 9:37:19 AM GMT
And so are we! Okamiden producer Motohide Eshiro says Capcom listens to fan demand, and if enough demand is there, Okami and God Hand could get sequels. Eshiro told Gamesradar: "We’re certainly willing to explore the option of another Okami game if the market is there for it. If people want it, we’ll be pleased to deliver it. As for what hardware, it will depend entirely on what ideas we have and what the demands of the market are. We will pick the appropriate platform from there." (more)

PSA: PAX Prime 3-day badges are selling fast

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2254 days, 6 hours, 16 minutes ago

The official twitter account for Penny Arcade Expo has broken the news. "I don't want to alarm anyone, but based on current sales trends, we're going to sell out of PAX Prime 3-day badges in about ... 15 days." I'm of the opinion that you don't need to visit the show floor all three days to have a good time. That said, I wanted to toss this message your way, on the chance that you were curious about how quickly these passes were moving. They're certainly moving, all right. (more)
