Could the iPhone 5 look like a beveled iPod touch?

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2159 days, 21 hours, 55 minutes ago
Sunday, April 24, 2011 8:14:14 AM GMT
See that up there? That could be your next iPhone -- or it could be a tear-shaped dream. It's a mock-up of what is said to be the iPhone 5, according to anonymous sources quoted by Joshua Topolsky. A continuation of the concepts laid out in our post-CES look at what's next for Apple, the design here is said to be thin, metal-backed, tapered, and sporting a 3.7-inch display with the same 960 x 640 resolution in the iPhone 4's retina display -- resulting in a slight drop from that phone's vaunted 326ppi de... PlayStation Network outage caused by 'external intrusion,' continues for third day (update)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2159 days, 21 hours, 55 minutes ago
Sunday, April 24, 2011 8:13:45 AM GMT
It started on a quiet Wednesday night, with PlayStation gamers finding their Network unresponsive to their login attempts, and now continues well into its third day. Sony has now finally shed some light on the problems it's been having with PSN and, to nobody's surprise, the culprit for its troubles has been identified as "an external intrusion." The current downtime for PSN is the second of its kind this month, with the Anonymous group of online crusaders claiming responsibility for the first. Sony now ... (more)

Europeans have been able to preorder the HTC Flyer for months, and now curious Yanks are about to get their chance, too. The tablet will be available for preorder on April 24th (that's this Sunday) for $499 with Best Buy as the exclusive seller. Though our friends across the pond have been able to snag 3G versions, the one about to come stateside just has WiFi. The Flyer, as you'll remember, is the phone maker's first tablet, and has a 7-inch (1024 x 600) display, aluminum body, 1.5GHz Qualcomm chip, and... (more)

Friday, April 22, 2011 6:32:22 AM GMT
I was so excited about PS3 title Tokyo Jungle when I played it at last year's Tokyo Game Show. Since then we've heard next to nothing about the strange and hilarious animal survival title. I've cried a few times. The latest Famitsu update finally gives us some new info on Tokyo Jungle's two modes: story and survival. (more)

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is less than a month away now, so here's another dev diary to hold you over. It covers a lot of the gameplay elements, such as the "witchery side of the game," the different skill trees, and how mutagens allow you to mutate some skills in one skill tree to make up for not being able to put points into other skill trees. Child of Eden not hitting PlayStation 3 until September

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2161 days, 23 hours, 39 minutes ago
Friday, April 22, 2011 6:29:26 AM GMT
Ubisoft has confirmed to IGN that the PlayStation 3 version of Q Entertainment's Child of Eden has been moved all the way back to September of this year. No specific reasons for the delay were cited. Considering quite a few people were planning on going with the "expected"-to-support-Move PS3 version as a middle ground between full-body Kinect and a standard gamepad, this is rather disappointing to hear. Remember, Child of Eden will release for Xbox 360 on June 14 in North America. (more)

Miyamoto talks Super Mario 3DS, hints at the raccoon's return

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2161 days, 23 hours, 43 minutes ago
Friday, April 22, 2011 6:26:17 AM GMT
In a recent interview with Edge, industry legend Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed two of the suspicions we'd developed regarding the handful of Super Mario 3DS details revealed during the publisher's GDC presentation. First, he explained, "It's a combination of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario on N64." Which makes sense, considering we knew it was being developed by the team between both installments in the Galaxy series. He added that the device's 3D capabilities makes platforming a bit smoother, explaining... (more)

Final Fantasy III available on iPad today

Before they became mopey, meteorologically named belt-enthusiasts, Final Fantasy protagonists used to be heroic, cheerful and chosen youths, with names like "Ingus" and "Luneth." Thankfully, Square Enix hasn't lost touch with that younger generation of yesteryear, having released a 3D remake of Final Fantasy III on DS, the iPhone and iPod Touch, and -- as of today -- the iPad. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to give a lonely Majini a home. Sure, they may be parasitic shells of their former selves, but that doesn't mean they don't have feelings, guys. (more)

The iPhone Has Been Tracking Where You Go

Friday, April 22, 2011 6:22:29 AM GMT
If you've carried an iPhone in your pocket over the last year, then every one of your moves has been tracked and recorded by the Apple device. Security researchers Alasdair Allan and Pete Warden have uncovered a file that the iPhone and iPad 3G use to record your location history for as far back as the user has been running iOS 4. For iPhone 4 users, that means ever since they got the phone. (more)

PSP Go to America: I'm not dead (yet)

It looks like proclamations of the PSP Go's demise may have been a bit premature. While it does appear that Japan and Europe are giving up on the downloadable content-only device, Sony of America told our good friends at Joystiq that the UMD-less PSP is still a "go" in North America. Production and sales will continue, presumably until we can get our greasy paws on the NGP this holiday season. (more)

Samsung strikes back at Apple with ten patent infringement claims

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone: in the latest chapter of the Apple-Samsung dispute over their smartphones' resemblance, the latter company has just retaliated by filing lawsuits against Apple in three countries. Sammy's load of ammo include five patent infringements in South Korea, two in Japan, and three in Germany, though we've yet to hear more details about these claims. Now we just sit back and enjoy the show -- popcorn, anyone? (more)
