The Federal Trade Commission recently conducted an annual undercover shopping survey and found that, of the various consumer entertainment industries, the video game industry was actually best at self-policing and keeping material intended for mature audiences away from children. Following a trend since 2000, the game industry scored very well with only 13 percent of underage shoppers able to buy M-rated games, down from 20 percent last year. (more)

Trackmania 2 still exists, gets a teaser video

When I think of what makes Trackmania what it is today, YouTube runs of inventive user-made tracks immediately come to mind. This teaser for Trackmania 2 is a decidedly more typical video, but it's been so long since anyone's mentioned the game in an official capacity that I'm fine with it. (more)

The original Section 8 didn't exactly set the world aflame. Its focus on pure online gameplay was to its detriment, due to the fact that not many people were actually playing it. By and large, it was a noble effort and a decent game, albeit one that seemed doomed to slip into obscurity. (more)

We certainly didn't expect a race version of the thing, but that's what Nissan created, and now here it is at the New York International Auto Show, sitting on a turntable and spinning away. (more)

While it's been designed to "bring back the simplicity and instant thrill of the great arcade shooters from the 1980’s and the FMV games of the early 90’s," the ability to share scores on sites like Facebook is a big part of the experience.
