The current big thing is The Next Big Thing demo

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2409 days, 5 hours, 19 minutes ago

Since our first look at the kitschy, cartoony style of The Next Big Thing, we (like many of you, we'd bet) have been harboring a secret crush on Pendulo's upcoming adventure. Well, it's not really a secret, we'd tell you about it if you asked. We just don't get a lot of opportunities to bring it up. (more)

Get in the dick-killing mood with a free Bulletstorm soundtrack

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2409 days, 5 hours, 20 minutes ago
Friday, April 15, 2011 6:39:16 AM GMT
As a "thank you" to its fans, Epic has released the entire Bulletstorm soundtrack for free. Composed by Michal Cielecki and Krzysztof Wierzynkiewicz, the music is surprisingly devoid of the profuse, ridiculous profanity associated with Bulletstorm. That said, and you'll know this if you've played the game, it is the perfect music for scaring, killing or otherwise negatively affecting dicks. (more)

Exceptionally colorful FPS Xotic announced for XBLA

No one can accuse Xotic of having that generic brown-and-grey FPS "look." Developer WXP Games has some experience in the genre, having developed last generation's Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball, but is going decidedly sci-fi with this XBLA-exclusive title. (more)

DC Unlimited releases Killzone 3 action figure line

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2409 days, 5 hours, 21 minutes ago
Friday, April 15, 2011 6:38:13 AM GMT
If a Killzone enthusiast wanted to recreate the action of his or her beloved shooter franchise on the carpeted floor of their living room, their only option used to be the one and only action figure that came in the Killzone 3 Helghast Edition. We suppose they could have also strapped a tiny gas mask on a Barbie and used their imagination as well -- thankfully, that kind of roleplaying is no longer necessary: PlayStation Blog has announced that a line of two new figures have arrived from DC Unlimited. posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2409 days, 5 hours, 30 minutes ago

Our friends at Joystiq have obtained screenshots showing off Hulu Plus in action on the console, as well as a shot of the Kinect Hub with Hulu and Netflix apps included. According to their tipster the Hulu (which looks similar to Zune Video as predicted) and Avatar Kinect apps are "fully functional," with good tracking of their movements similar to existing uses for the peripheral. there's no word on whether or not members of the larger public preview will get an early peek at these features, but you can... RIM: PlayBook email client 'very very soon,' 3G model this summer

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2409 days, 5 hours, 30 minutes ago

Lately, anything goes when a RIM CEO gets in front of the media. Fortunately, it was the other CEO, Jim Balsillie, talking to Bloomberg this time delivering a calm, cool rebuttal to all the lukewarm PlayBook reviews. His consumer defense is largely based upon the PlayBook's ability to receive software updates (we received three in the brief time we had our review unit) throughout its lifetime. (more)

Another year, another chance for Nintendo to deliver what it's alternately denied and teased since day one -- a successor to the Nintendo Wii capable of displaying games in high resolution. Will Nintendo finally make it happen? Multiple totally anonymous sources say yes: they told Game Informer, IGN and Kotaku that just such a system will debut at E3 2011 in June, possibly with a teaser of some sort next month. (more)

The Final Preview: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

Western fantasy role-playing games have moved in different directions over the years. You have the European type of games like Two Worlds II, the Gothic series, and the original The Witcher. Games that tend to expect a lot of patience from the player while giving you a huge amount of things to do in an open, yet usually (or initially) buggy world. (more)

Your main weapon, the Orichalcum Chain, will have various uses aside from harvesting flesh from slain beasts. They include restraining enemies so that you may attack with another weapon, latching onto walls, swinging from hooks, and manipulating switches. (more)

March is typically a big month for the Yakuza series. In 2010, Yakuza 3 came out in the West in March, and Yakuza 4 in Japan. This year, Yakuza 4 hit North America and Europe, and Yakuza: Of the End almost came out in Japan (but was delayed to June 9 due to the earthquake). On the occasion of 4's Western release, we spoke to producer Yasuhiro Noguchi about the changes made between the last two games, and the significant step forward Sega made in localization. (more)
