Hey, Half-Minute Hero is coming to Xbox Live Arcade! Okay, usually we try to ease you into the subject of our posts a little more gently than that, but we assumed that if you were the type of person to be excited by the announcement that Half-Minute Hero was coming to Xbox Live Arcade, you probably have a pretty short attention span. We've probably already lost you, haven't we? You're not reading this at all. Now we have to start dropping aberrant words until we regain your attention. Bombogenesis. Ronko... (more)

THQ planning North Korean protest to promote Homefront

posted by adminadmin 2214 days, 14 hours, 46 minutes ago
Wednesday, March 02, 2011 9:13:07 AM GMT
Surprised? Yeah, we're not either. Turns out that THQ is once again planning a North Korean-themed event , though this time it's GDC that the publisher is invading. As reported by the SF Weekly, anti-North Korean protesters (read: hired actors) will be marching across the Golden Gate bridge, through the streets of SF, and ending across the street from GDC at Yerba Buena Gardens. And as you likely inferred from the headline above, the protest is staged in promotion of the company's next game, Homefront. (more)

While Fallout 3 may have been pretty divisive among hardcore fans, there's no mistake that Bethesda managed to retain some of the franchise's iconic imagery. And none is more iconic than the Brotherhood of Steel's atomic powered armor. Every gamer worth his salt did his best to snag himself a piece, myself included: (more)

Radeon HD 6990 pictured, GeForce GTX 590 rumored for PAX East 2011 reveal

Multiple cores are old hat, particularly in the GPU world where you can have hundreds of simultaneous processing units working in concert, but multiple GPUs on the same PCB, that's still exciting territory (not least because of the crazy thermal and power requirements that go with it). AMD and NVIDIA are set to clash horns on this field of battle once again, fishing for mindshare as much as they are for high premium sales, with the Radeon HD 6990 and GeForce GTX 590, (more)

Guerrilla has revealed the second downloadable map pack for Killzone 3, Steel Rain. The pack contains two new multiplayer maps, Junkyard and Stahl Arms. Junkyard is designed for 16-player Guerrilla Warfare, while Stahl Arms is a large map dedicated to 24-player Warzone matches. Both levels were featured heavily in the single-player, so expect the maps to be repurposed versions of those, as is Guerrilla's MO. (more)

Shock: Mortal Kombat banned in Australia

posted by adminadmin 2218 days, 13 hours, 48 minutes ago
Saturday, February 26, 2011 10:11:10 AM GMT
"We are extremely disappointed that Mortal Kombat, one of the world’s oldest and most successful video games franchises, will not be available to mature Australian gamers," said Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "WBIE would not market mature content where it is not appropriate for the audience. We understand that not all content is for every audience, but there is an audience for mature gaming content and it would make more sense to have the R18+ classification in Australia." (more)

Survey: Do you prefer Japanese games with subs or dubs?

posted by adminadmin 2218 days, 14 hours ago
Saturday, February 26, 2011 9:58:57 AM GMT
It is my pleasure to bring you an exclusive Destructoid survey conducted in partnership with a major Japanese company. We are looking to conduct a relatively informal survey and open conversation on the topic of Japanese titles (especially those that have never made it to North America). At the heart of it, they're curious if a product remaining somewhat pure to its Japanese roots might be better received by serious J-gamers in the States. Your answers will be DIRECTLY influencing a significant decision ... (more)
