Thursday, February 24, 2011 9:12:23 AM GMT
Sony recently celebrated the considerable size of its "Game Archives" on the Japanese PlayStation Store, which now warehouses more than 600 titles of yesteryear. Siliconera took note of the achievement (er, Trophy?), pointing out that the collection spans a modest assortment of TurboGrafx-16 and Neo Geo games, but for the most part it's made up of PS1 titles. VIDEO: Man Tries to Eat Deep Fried PSP

posted by adminadmin 2256 days, 12 hours, 17 minutes ago
Thursday, February 24, 2011 9:11:38 AM GMT
Boredom can be a dangerous thing. In high school, it could mean launching eggs at construction workers through the passenger window of a moving car, or playing "box ball" with a bat and a road stringed with a long row of mailboxes. In college it could mean running in a drunken stupor along the lip of a twenty-story building, or stealing a small fishing boat to sled down a snowy hill in a city park. For some, it could mean slapping batter on a perfectly good Sony PSP handheld and deep-frying it in a vat o... (more)

Have you been considering ditching your Android phone for an iPhone ever since you heard that Minecraft would be heading to iOS later this year? Then you might want to reconsider, as Kotaku has confirmed that the game that's already inspired a documentary will be headed to Android as well. Interestingly, the site says that the game's creators initially held some talks with third-party developers about doing a mobile version, but ultimately decided to do both ports in-house. Details are otherwise still pr... (more)

Dead or Alive: Dimensions touch screen controls designed to reduce stress

posted by adminadmin 2257 days, 14 hours, 43 minutes ago
Wednesday, February 23, 2011 6:45:19 AM GMT
The touch screen controls in the upcoming 3DS fighter, Dead or Alive: Dimensions, may seem sacrilege to brawler fans, but developer Team Ninja seems confident that they cater to many different players. The controls allow players to execute any technique or combo with a simple tap, essentially throwing practice out the window. Speaking to Siliconera, Team Ninja's Yosuke Hayashi noted that the touch-screen controls were implemented to "give players a chance to enjoy the beauty of 3D fighting games without ... (more)

Polish developer CD Projekt charmed a lot of PC-playing RPG fans with its first game, The Witcher, and now the studio is using that solid foundation to build the sequel, subtitled Assassins of Kings. The first game used a heavily modified Aurora Engine (from BioWare's Neverwinter Nights series), but The Witcher 2 runs on a new graphical engine of CD Projekt's own design and features a revamped combat system. Review: Bulletstorm

posted by adminadmin 2257 days, 14 hours, 54 minutes ago
Wednesday, February 23, 2011 6:34:31 AM GMT
Sure, you can run through its eight-hour campaign, relying on your default military assault rifle to blast through inexhaustible crowds of the game’s punk mutants and bloodthirsty soldiers. As your typical first-person shooting gallery, Bulletstorm holds its own, with a wealth of scripted “oh, shit!” moments and solid base mechanics that just feel right. So if you want to dash from firefight to firefight, mindlessly unloading clips at anything that moves, go for it. You’ll probably have a blast. (more)

Review: Killzone 3

Halo and Call of Duty are often held up as the twin peaks of online first-person-shooters. Meanwhile Killzone is regularly overlooked or outright disregarded, and that's a remarkable shame, since Guerrilla's efforts with Killzone 2 led to perhaps one of the most vivid and powerful shooters on the market. Just last week Sony said that those found to have hacked their PlayStation 3 consoles would have their PlayStation Network access "terminated permanently." Harsh words that, unsurprisingly, weren't too warmly received by the hacking community. Destructoid is now reporting that not only have those tinkerers found a way to unban themselves, but that they can in turn ban any other console they want. (more)
