posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2489 days, 19 hours, 7 minutes ago
Wednesday, January 26, 2011 8:54:56 AM GMT
Do you primarily use the GOG platform as a channel through which you can build virtual armies to destroy neighboring, virtual civilizations? There are certainly plenty of games on the network that will let you do just that -- and today, that list became one entry longer. Auran's 1997 strategy title Dark Reign: The Future of War (and its expansion, The Rise of the Shadowhand) both arrived on the GOG store today for $9.99. (more)

Leaked Slide Reveals Nvidia Tegra 2 3D, More

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2489 days, 19 hours, 10 minutes ago
Wednesday, January 26, 2011 8:51:35 AM GMT
Last week brought speculation that Nvidia may reveal a new Tegra 3 chip next month at Mobile World Congress. The news was based on an interview with Nvidia's Mike Rayfield who said he wanted to launch a new version of Tegra each year. Given that Tegra 2 was unveiled at CES 2010 last January, February 2011 and the Mobile World Congress event seemed to fit just right within Rayfield's overall plan. (more)

Killzone 3 KillStreak trailer has loads of killing

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2491 days, 20 hours, 21 minutes ago

Here's a nice little trailer for Killzone 3 to mark the announcement of its February 3 not-beta. It features loads of death in it, specifically from the multiplayer portion of the game, and it looks utterly gorgeous. I'd stick around to say more but a totally unrelated game arrived in my mailbox a few moments ago. I can't tell you what it is. All I can say is that it's not in beta. Not at all. (more)

Nintendo refuses to license its music to Bieber movie

Shameless plug: I'm working on getting the next episode of Constructoid out next week. It's about giving constructive criticism to Nintendo, in order to help them win back self-identified "hardcore" gamers. What sucks is, I finished the episode about two weeks ago, and since then, Nintendo has already done a lot of the stuff that I suggested. (more)

2010 Sucked: If Red Dead Redemption was Game of the Year

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2491 days, 20 hours, 25 minutes ago

For all intents and purposes, Red Dead Redemption became the community favorite in 2010 (not of Destructoid specifically, but in general amongst gamers). Something that I guess doesn’t mean much now that everyone is off the year end high, but it still really bothers me. (more)

Unconfirmed video of Evil Ryu and 'Oni Akuma' spotted

Here it is, the first footage of Evil Ryu and the character that fans (such as myself) were calling "Oni Akuma" in Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Well consider the Oni Akuma name dead, as according to these screens and videos, this new purple demon is named "Oni". The new name fits, as he appears to be more fearsome and devastating than Akuma ever was (Shin or otherwise). (more)

Firstly, the portable will supposedly feature an OLED screen. Secondly (and more importantly!), the system will support 3G data, enabling over-the-air multiplayer and video and game downloads. In Japan, the service will be offered by NTT DoCoMo. And although the PSP2 will connect to cellular service, it won't make phone calls -- that's left for t... (more)

Second, it's a mainstream news report about video games that isn't awkward and condescending enough to peel the flesh off your bones. (more)
