Konami will release a second demo of Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 next week, crashing into the nets of Xbox Live on August 28 and PlayStation Network on August 29. A beloved, longstanding mainstay of the Nintendo gaming scene may soon be another casualty in the war between print and digital. According to an Ars Technica source, Nintendo Power is no more. Staffers were allegedly told of the closure last week, and already have been moved to other Future Publishing publications (among them GamesRadar and MacLife). The fate of the year's remaining issues, and how Nintendo Power's 475,000 subscribers will be compensated, is currently unknown. (more)

Transformers: War for Cybertron was one of my top multiplayer games of 2010. Something about it just worked surprisingly well, and High Moon Studios deserved oodles of kudos for providing the Transformers license with an original, structurally sound, vastly entertaining game that respected the franchise in a way other games (and certain movies) had not. With a mostly sorry launch lineup, Kinect's first-year appeal came almost entirely from Dance Central. Since then, it too often feels like this series is solely providing the legs for Microsoft's motion platform. Less than a year later, Harmonix gave us a follow-up with all the sequel bells and whistles (new modes, more songs, etc.). (more)
