A gaming cafe in Kaneohe, Hawaii was robbed last week, three youths storming in and demanding money from the customers inside. They got the money, but I don't think they were ready for one guy to fight back. (more)

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 is about more than just shooting animals

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2606 days, 8 hours, 42 minutes ago
Monday, August 02, 2010 9:22:37 AM GMT
Shake off that sense of deja vu. We're talking about a different Cabela's game here: Activision has just announced Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011, the next installment in its iterative series of hunt-em-down-and-shoot-em-ups. It's set to stalk retail shelves "late fall" and will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS systems. Every version sans the DS installment will come packed with the Top Shot Elite controller, a wireless gun peripheral created by the same people at Activision who brought you t... (more)

Ferrari: The Race Experience steers towards Wii and PSN

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2606 days, 8 hours, 48 minutes ago
Monday, August 02, 2010 9:16:57 AM GMT
System 3 has announced yet another Ferrari-licensed racing game, Ferrari: The Race Experience, presumably a follow-up to last year's Ferrari Challenge Deluxe. Like System 3's previous efforts, this will be hitting both Wii and PlayStation 3. However, PS3 owners will only be able to find the game on the virtual shelves of the PlayStation Network. Why? System 3 explains that it's become too costly to deal with retail. "The vast amounts of money required in securing a decent in-store presence through co-ope... (more)

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2606 days, 8 hours, 48 minutes ago
Monday, August 02, 2010 9:16:56 AM GMT
It appears that we'll see another addition to the Operation Flashpoint series in the coming year, with Operation Flashpoint: Red River being outed recently by OXM UK (via CVG). Other than revealing the title, OXM UK editor John Hicks also noted that the game is a sequel to last year's Dragon Rising and feels "tighter, more focused" than the last game. Presumably, Red River is being developed by Codemasters' Southam studio, as revealed by Codies VP Gavin Cheshire just last week. (more)

Casual giant Zynga is shutting down its Street Racing game on August 2, immediately rendering void all the in-game items players bought with real money. Zynga offered no explanation in the announcement, simply suggesting that players try other Zynga games. Naturally, people whose fake worlds have crashed around them are upset, starting a petition in Zynga's forum to stop the game from disappearing. (more)

Left 4 Dead's 'Tank' figure unveiled, busting through bank accounts

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2606 days, 8 hours, 54 minutes ago

We've got some mixed emotions about the just revealed Tank mini-statue (statuette just doesn't seem fitting for a giant terrifying zombie), created by Gaming Heads for Valve. Sure, its detail is marvelous and it comes with a totally sweet, albeit miniature, pump-action shotgun, but it's also 325 real-life actual dollars for the "exclusive edition". (more)

It's popular these days to call the 18th-century ship found beneath the remains of the World Trade Center nothing more than part of an old-timey land extension, helping New York City's financial district jut that much further into the Hudson River. We, however, know the real, actual truth behind its origins. (more)

"For starters, I pulled a list of keys that had actually been used as of a month or two ago, and we'll probably validate against that list," Bungie developer Roger Wolfson said on the Bungie forums. "So people won't be able to just get the keygen now and claim the... reward. (i.e., people who didn't even bother to pirate the game) It also means that buying one of the few remaining copies at retail won't help you anymore." (more)

While SEGA is busy scratching its head over the surprisingly good sales of Alpha Protocol it seems Capcom has been busy throwing chairs across the room at some disappointing Lost Planet 2 sales. In what can only be called a miserable financial report Capcom revealed that the game, and burgeoning staple franchise, "underperformed its projection substantially," shipping only 1.5 million units globally. A large sum for most games, but disappointing for what was supposed to be a blockbuster sequel. (more)
