Here is the evolution of LeChuck for Monkey Island 2: SE

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2668 days, 4 hours, 14 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 02, 2010 8:00:12 AM GMT
LeChuck is a classic villain. He has a singular and grandiose focus, always has a sinister plan to achieve his ends and repeatedly opens himself up to being defeated by a bumbling loser with luck on their side. It doesn't get anymore basic than that. And yet, he has a style and flair all his own. It's probably all of the voodoo. LucasArts Games released a group of images showing the development of LeChuck's look in the upcoming Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge Special Edition (more)

PS3 gets 3D updates on June 10th in Japan

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2668 days, 4 hours, 15 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 02, 2010 7:59:29 AM GMT
If you've been dying to play 3D-enabled PS3 games, know that an update to add this functionality is probably coming soon. For Japan, we know that the update will come on June 10th, and seeing as how they usually get feature updates at about the same time we do, I think it's safe to assume we'll see 3D in June. I mean, E3 is in two weeks. (more)

Preview: DC Universe Online

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2668 days, 4 hours, 15 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 02, 2010 7:58:42 AM GMT
DC Universe Online has been edging ever closer to a game we can actually play in our own homes, so much so that we got to play a bit of it a couple of weeks ago at a pre-E3 event Sony Online Entertainment held. The release is so near that it's okay to start anticipating it now. November is what we're hearing. You probably know the rub by now: You'll create a character which will be either a hero or villain in this online game for PC and PS3. Then you'll set off to do either good or evil, taking on missi... (more)

Tropico 3 dev announces The First Templar for PC, 360

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2668 days, 4 hours, 17 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 02, 2010 7:56:34 AM GMT
Haemimont Games, the developer of Tropico 3, and Kalypso Media have announced The First Templar, an action-adventure game coming to PC and Xbox 360 in early 2011. The game has players controlling one of two characters (or both!) -- a French Templar, and noble woman who has been pegged as a heretic. The team works together to uncover the mysterious of the Templars, in the process bringing to light the secrets of the Holy Grail. The game can be played cooperative, or you can go it alone. Co-op will suppor... (more)

ESRB outs Alien Breed 2: Assault

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2668 days, 4 hours, 19 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 02, 2010 7:55:07 AM GMT
Alien Breed is getting ready to make its return! This according to the ESRB who recently rated Alien Breed 2: Assault for Xbox 360. The game is presumably the follow-up to Team17's Xbox LIVE Arcade top-down shooter, Alien Breed Evolution. Based on the description the game sounds about the same as Evolution -- aliens pop out of things, you shoot them with your rifle/shotugun/machine gun/flamethrower. Sounds okay to me. (more)

Valve cancels Portal 2 press event at E3 and it's amazing

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2668 days, 4 hours, 21 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 02, 2010 7:52:55 AM GMT
I'm deep in E3 planning, so when any one event gets canceled or shuffled, I'm not entirely pleased. But Valve, it can do whatever it wants. See, it had a Portal 2 press conference event taking place on Monday, June 14. Now it's not happening; it's been canceled. Valve says that it has replaced the event with a "surprise," but doesn't go into any details. I'll find out, I'm sure -- I'm already penciled in to see Portal 2 (and whatever else they'd like to show me -- begin speculation now) behind-closed-do... (more)

Here's why mutants are in Crackdown 2

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2668 days, 4 hours, 23 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 02, 2010 7:51:26 AM GMT
Not that you really need to explain zombie/mutant/freak outbreaks in this day and age, but the inclusion of them in Crackdown 2 seems odd. Out of place? Not at all -- these monstrosities tend to mesh nicely with open-world games. Still, there's been little in the way of an explanation so far. (more)

Nintendo Reveals Three New DSi XL Colors

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2668 days, 4 hours, 29 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 02, 2010 7:44:36 AM GMT
Later this month, on June 19, Nintendo will be letting loose on the world (well, Japan) three new colours of the DSi XL: Yellow, Blue and Green. That's it! No fancy names like Wine or Cheese Wine or Puce. Just Yellow, Blue and Green. Reminds me both of children's toys and the Super Nintendo control pad. They're all very strong, simple, bold colours. I like. Though they've only been revealed for the Japanese market, hopefully they also get released in the West. Or, better still, they're the launch colour... (more)

The first batch of downloadable Sega Genesis games for the PC has hit Steam, giving gamers a new way to spend $2.99 apiece on games like Ecco the Dolphin, Vectorman, and Sonic 3D Blast. Sony Gets Aggressive With PSP Game Pricing, Free PSPgo Games

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2668 days, 4 hours, 39 minutes ago
Wednesday, June 02, 2010 7:34:46 AM GMT
The PlayStation Portable gets a lot more attractive starting today if you want to game on the cheap. The same for the PSPgo, which in North America, now includes three free games. If you purchase a PSPgo within the next year, Sony Computer Entertainment America will throw in a voucher that lets you download LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3, gratis. According to SCEA, that's an $80 USD value, making the PSPgo financially much more attractive. Sure, Europe may h... (more)

CTA's Inflatable Wii Racecar is Awesome

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2668 days, 4 hours, 40 minutes ago

There are a lot of Wii peripherals out there, but hardly any of them are impressive enough to incite levels of 'want' that would make us consider handing over our hard earned cash. CTA Digital has an inflatable racing kart for the Wii that also supports Wii MotionPlus. Compatible with Mario Kart; Need for Speed: Pro Street; Need for Speed: Nitro; Need for Speed Undercover; Exite Truck and pretty much any other Wii racing game, the blow-up car sports a plastic steering wheel that serves as a dock for the... Sure, you read our liveblog of Steve Jobs' D8 conference -- and believe us, it's heavily quotable -- but don't you want to see and hear the Apple CEO claim HyperCard was huge in its day? Or perhaps your more interested in his thoughts on Flash, market cap, and the iPad origins -- either way, videos are after the break, with presumably more to come from All Things D. (more)

War for Cybertron will let you 'understand' Starscream

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2669 days, 3 hours, 55 minutes ago
Tuesday, June 01, 2010 8:18:55 AM GMT
I'm a huge fanboy when it comes to Starscream, something I've never kept secret. For a cartoon commercial character, Starscream has always been one of the most surprisingly fascinating and curious characters ever created. He's also one of the most gloriously underhanded, ambitious and bastardly. As a Starscream nut, I had to ask War for Cybertron's Matt Tieger how they're tackling the character and asked the all-important question -- High Moon Studios isn't going to make him too sympathetic, are they? Rumor: 'Alpha Protocol should have been scrapped'

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2669 days, 3 hours, 56 minutes ago

An alleged developer from Obsidian has anonymously ranted about the spectacular failure Alpha Protocol, explaining some tantalizing revelations behind the game's development and claiming that it should have been canceled instead of the Aliens RPG. "I worked on this game (a fact of which I am not proud). I’m not here to defend it; I agree with all these reviews," claims the supposed developer. "There was a ton of work put into this game. The problem is that is was a ton of undirected work, or work on th... (more)
