Electronic Arts wants to put your name in Crytek's upcoming Crysis 2. Well, if you live in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or Germany, that is. The publisher is picking 50 lucky gamer's names to appear as graffiti in the upcoming first-person shooter. It's a Twitter contest, so get your Twitter-spamming hats on. First, follow the game's official Twitter account, @Crysis. Then, depending on your region, tweet one of the following: (more)

Crappy Demo No One Wanted May Be Worth a Ton Now [Update]

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2613 days, 9 hours, 44 minutes ago
Sunday, May 02, 2010 7:43:50 PM GMT
At the 1998 NBA All-Star Game, fans received discs with the demo for a PlayStation game called NBA 2-Ball. The game was pretty bad - possibly defective - but it's extremely rare. So a surviving copy may be extremely valuable. A New Jersey man provided pictures of the disc to a blog that a while ago had written about NBA 2-Ball, which runs on "the awful NBA Jam Extreme engine," so it wasn't much fun to gamers, and was utterly useless to those without a PlayStation. Most folks threw the discs away. Only t... (more)

HTC Incredible suffering random reboots for Tar Heel fans and Duke devotees?

Well now this is a bit of an odd story, but we've seen enough reports to think that it is fully legit. HTC Incredible owners in and around the great state of North Carolina, particularly those in north-central portion (the Triad) are reporting that their phones are rebooting all on their own with alarming regularity. Many have tried new phones, combinations of wireless settings, and other remediations only to find the problem still occurring just as frequently as before. (more)

Last night TechCrunch reported that, according to an unnamed "source briefed on the matter," HP had stopped development of the Slate in its tracks, killing off the project entirely. Why? Well, according to the source, HP isn't thrilled with Windows 7's performance on the tablet. The Slate -- which was officially unveiled in January by Steve Ballmer himself -- had a rumored price of $549, and was supposedly launching in June. So, what should we make of all this? (more)

Confirmed: LG's Moorestown-based GW990 won't be made

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2615 days, 9 hours, 51 minutes ago

Considering the almost complete absence of love in the commercial marketplace for Moorestown and Moblin -- and the fact that there's no sign of MeeGo building serious momentum just yet -- we're sure that Intel would've just loved for the drop-dead-sexy GW990 to serve as the platform's crown jewel for 2010. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen, because we've just been able to confirm that the 4.8-inch beast (and potential Dell Mini 5 foil) has been wiped off the product roadmap. (more)
