Mr. Freeze and Talia Confirmed for Arkham Asylum 2

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2652 days, 1 hour, 23 minutes ago
Tuesday, April 20, 2010 7:25:50 PM GMT
Batman has one of the most famous rogue's galleries in comic books, and even more of his villains have been outed for appearances in Arkham Asylum 2. League of Comics reports that both Mr. Freeze and Talia al Ghul will appear in the anticipated sequel. Freeze will be played by Maurice LaMarche, a veteran voice actor who has played roles in The Simpsons and Futurama. He stated on a comic podcast that he has to keep the details of the character under wraps, but calls it "a sympathetic character within the... (more)

This Might be the Coolest Xbox 360 Case Mod Ever

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2652 days, 1 hour, 26 minutes ago
Tuesday, April 20, 2010 7:23:14 PM GMT
To celebrate 1 million Xbox 360 consoles sold in Australia and New Zealand, Microsoft and the David Peachey Foundation are having a charity auction called Konsoles for Kids, where special modded Xbox 360s are put on eBay and the proceeds from the auctions will go towards the charity. While there some pretty interesting airbrush paintjobs of Russell Crowe and Kelly Rowland, complete with signatures, the real standout so far is the mod job comes from Richard Taylor from WETA Workshop, who were involved in... The 12.1 megapixel superzoom with 25-300mm Leica DC-VARIO-ELMAR 4.1-49.2mm f/3.3-4.9 ASPH lens and integrated GPS is slated to ship to the UK in May for a suggested retail price of £495 (about $757, likely a bit less when priced Stateside). Thieves snag iPad from buyer, yank a finger off while they're at it

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2652 days, 1 hour, 34 minutes ago

We'll be honest with you -- it literally pains us to write this. If you're the queasy type, we'd probably suggest scrolling on down and continuing about your day. For the hardcore still with us, the story goes a little something like this: a Denver-area man headed out to his local Apple store to pick up an iPad for a colleague (read: not even for himself), and in an interview, he admits to not even really understanding the fascination with Apple's new product. Nintendo ships Wii Classic Controller Pro to sweaty-palmed Americans

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2652 days, 1 hour, 36 minutes ago
Tuesday, April 20, 2010 7:13:21 PM GMT
Nothing like coming through on a promise, right? You bet. If you'll recall, the Big N assured us all back in January that the jumbo-sized Wii Classic Controller Pro would begin shipping to America in April, and sure enough, that's exactly what it has done. After giving the Japanese a few months head-start, both the white and black accessories are now shipping from none other than Amazon for the tidy sum of $19.99 apiece. And yes, gift wrapping is available for a nominal fee. (more)

iPhone OS 4.0 beta 2 hits the scene

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2652 days, 1 hour, 37 minutes ago
Tuesday, April 20, 2010 7:11:40 PM GMT
That's right: a little under two weeks since the launch event and the release of the first beta, Apple has pushed out beta 2 of its next-gen iPhone OS 4.0. Considering that our units have seemingly gotten buggier over time the longer they've had beta 1 loaded, we've got high hopes for this one -- hopes that stand a very real chance of being crushed, of course, as long as this isn't a gold build. Guess we're still months off from that, huh? Stay tuned for a report of anything that's changed, new, awesome,... (more)

Here are some Flip's Twisted World screens to gawp at

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2653 days, 2 hours, 41 minutes ago
Monday, April 19, 2010 6:08:36 PM GMT
Flip's Twisted World is looking like it could be a hot little game when it hits the Wii later this year. It looks like a traditional 3D platformer with a visual style that harks back to the era of PlayStation One mascot games. It also boasts a neat little world-flipping gimmick. That'll explain the name, then. Seriously, I'm quite looking forward to this one and it's definitely high on my list of promising Wii software. I love the art direction and the gameplay looks incredibly solid. Pretty much all yo... (more)

Microsoft accused of using Chinese child labor

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2653 days, 2 hours, 43 minutes ago
Monday, April 19, 2010 6:05:50 PM GMT
Microsoft has been caught in a nasty controversy after revelations that one of its suppliers in China may be using child labor. The kids are allegedly making mice, keyboards and Xbox 360 controllers for $0.65 an hour. Although Microsoft itself has not officially sanctioned this sweatshop and its 16-hour workdays, the company is still under fire from National Labor Committee. The real villain of the piece is KYE, a company that makes small children briefly sleep at their work stations in dismal conditions... (more)

Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi outed for Xbox Live Arcade

Monday, April 19, 2010 6:04:01 PM GMT
We've been hearing rumors about digital Dreamcast games since forever, but some brand new evidence appears to categorically suggest that both Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure are en route to Xbox Live Arcade. This is amidst further "confirmations" of Doom II, Metal Slux XX and Quake Arena. A member of the Digiex Forums posted a batch of screenshorts purported to be nabbed from a dev kit 360. Just for good measure, he revealed Sonic 4's Super Sonic as well. The screens themselves all look rather genuine, an... (more)

Ubisoft: Splinter Cell could come to the PS3

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2653 days, 2 hours, 49 minutes ago
Monday, April 19, 2010 6:00:16 PM GMT
While rumors of Splinter Cell: Conviction coming to the PS3 are hardly new to the web, Ubisoft must be commended (or hated) for sticking to their one console guns this time around. Could that single console loyalty be waning now? If what Ubisoft creative director Maxime Béland says is true, the answer is an obvious yes. "We'll have to see what decisions are made by Ubisoft's management in the future," Béland said after being asked by VG247 if the series might see other console releases in the future. "T... (more)

Want team-accurate camera angles in MLB 2K10? Try this

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2653 days, 2 hours, 53 minutes ago
Monday, April 19, 2010 5:55:52 PM GMT
I've been playing 2K Sports' Major League Baseball 2K10 for review, and I've noticed that one of the (few) ways in which it is better than Sony's MLB 10 The Show is its suite of highly customizable in-game camera angles. Kotaku's Owen Good noticed it, too, and in an effort to bring a higher degree of verisimilitude to MLB 2K10, he went in and tinkered with the camera angles in each of the ballparks of baseball's 30 teams to make the videogame resemble each team's TV broadcast as closely as possible. Splinter Cell takes top UK sales spot with 'Conviction'

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2653 days, 3 hours, 3 minutes ago

Just Dance will just have to wait for its turn back at the top of the UK all-formats sales chart, as Splinter Cell: Conviction has debonairly cut in this week. Although it may appear that the two Ubisoft published titles are in a sashay for supremacy, history has taught us that Just Dance will keep gyrating high above the charts long after Sam Fisher's latest adventure holds the bargain bin hostage. New Zealand police respond to Splinter Cell stunt involving 'gun'

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2653 days, 3 hours, 5 minutes ago
Monday, April 19, 2010 5:44:31 PM GMT
A Splinter Cell: Conviction marketing stunt went a bit too far in Auckland, New Zealand. According to the New Zealand Herald, a man with bandages on his hands pointed a fake gun at the patrons of a bar, who responded by diving under tables and calling the police. The money quote comes from Senior Sergeant Ben Offner, who said, "We consider these types of stunts to be very ill-advised and have real concerns a similar one may one day end in tragedy." Er, "ill-advised" would be putting it lightly. (more)

ModNation Racers PSP track editor works as it should

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2653 days, 3 hours, 6 minutes ago

A new video on the PlayStation.Blog (posted after the break) showcases how easy it is to use the track editor featured in the PSP version of ModNation Racers. In fact, it works nearly the same way as the PS3 version. Yes, there are a few caveats (for example, the auto-complete feature is much more intelligent on the console). However, the track editor gives you all the bells, whistles and launch pads you'll need to create a fun race for portable players. (more)

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker losing a scene in Japan

How is Twitter like Metal Gear Solid's codec system? Two ways: you see a picture of the person speaking next to every statement, and Hideo Kojima writes a lot for both. Andriasang pointed out a Tweet from the game designer, revealing that cuts had to be made to the Japanese version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker to keep the game at a CERO (Japan's equivalent to the ESRB) "C" rating.
