Saturday, April 10, 2010 6:43:23 AM GMT
That's not at all what PS3 singing game SingStar's new Online Battle Mode is, though. With a new downloadable update, you can now pick the Online Battle option. From there you'll be able to pick an opponent from your friends list. You'll send an invite and choose a song that you both have access to, and then you'll go at it. You'll be able to see your opponent's score live, as well as see them singing via the PlayStation Eye. (more)

The new game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is the sequel to last year's gruesome horror game and is set in between the first and second Saw movies. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Almost an 8-bit remake

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2753 days, 6 hours, 40 minutes ago
Saturday, April 10, 2010 6:40:18 AM GMT
The original concept was to remake the original classic 8-bit game in 3D. That was our original pitch, funny enough, with Simon Belmont and everything. We soon realized as we were doing the prototype that actually that’s probably not a good idea. It’s already been done before with Super Castlevania IV anyway. So we thought let’s do something really original, really new. (more)

More than just a mask: Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2753 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes ago
Saturday, April 10, 2010 6:38:57 AM GMT
Lucha Libre AAA: Héroes del Ring is, quite simply, a lucha libre wrestling game. Based upon the incredibly popular Mexican wrestling, this style of wrestling is as over the top as the American counterpart, but is studded with even more outlandish personalities, sometimes more violent wrestling skills, and the sacramental respect for the mask, the ever famous disguise almost all luchadors. Lucha libre has a minor following in the English speaking market as more of a novelty, but for Spanish speaking immig... (more)

Heavy Rain Sells A Million

posted by Pedro CubiasPedro Cubias 2754 days, 4 hours, 52 minutes ago
Friday, April 09, 2010 8:28:34 AM GMT
Outdoing early guesstimates on its retail performance, Sony's PS3 thriller Heavy Rain has managed to sell over a million copies worldwide since launching in February. The game's creator, David Cage, says pre-release estimates had the game selling only 200-300,000 copies. Which for a major first-party release with a big marketing campaign would have been a bit of a disaster. Luckily, then, it's managed to move over 1,000,000 units, with Cage figuring another 500,000 will be sold by the end of the year. (more)

Yeah, we see you staring. And why wouldn't you? This Sideshow Collectibles statue dubbed "Snow Day" is more than easy on the eyes. But this isn't some Saturday night good-time girl, man. This is Lara Croft we're talking about here. Lady Lara Croft. If you want to make her yours, you're going to need to pull out all the stops. In this case "all the stops" translates to $250. Now, we know that's a big commitment, but she's also not available yet, so you have a little time to decide if you're ready to take... (more)

The fifth-generation Pokémon game has been announced! At least, the titles for the next generation have been announced -- Pokémon Black and White are the next pair of Pokémon games, to be released this fall on DS in Japan. Nintendo's going for relatively simple colors after things like "HeartGold" and "Pearl." And ... that's pretty much all we know. Of course, given the way the series works, we can all kind of guess exactly how this will play. Or maybe not: a note on the Pokemon home page promises that... (more)

Evening Reading: Social Gaming on the iPhone

So, Apple is going to be adding a social gaming network (a la Xbox Live and PlayStation Network) to the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad later this year. There were already 3rd-party networks on the platform, but the lack of a unified experience was damaging to the user. Just think about going back to the early days of console-multiplayer, where every game ran its own friend lists and architecture. (more)

The bill allows the UK courts to order complete blocks on websites, it requires ISPs to start sending P2P warning letters from copyright holders, and it opens the door to throttling and Internet disconnection for repeat infringement.
